Hes awfully hard to take out of the lineup now. If you look at just the last 2 games, hes had a goal, an assist, and set up one other goal with a sweet pass in to Kev. He has created 3 of our 5 goals.
He also had an assist to Lukaku against Southampton as well. The kid has the vision that we all hope Barkley will develop. He cannot be dropped atm. Same with Robles and Holgate.

You could say that if people got there wish of playing Barkley further back, he would be in the position to play those sorts of passes..

Let's be honest though, Davies is playing impeccably right now defensively and Ross, despite improving a great deal at the moment, wouldn't replicate that

So what do we expect to happen to Tom once we have a fully available plethora of midfielders?

Do we want? Or expect him to start over Idrissa, Morgs and Ross?
Gana,Schneiderlin and Davies, with Baines and Coleman as wing backs and Barkley in behind Lukaku

Going to be an interesting one, IMO going forward Davies is better than Gana, the defensive side of Ross's game has really improved, and obviously he is a threat in the final third. If Koeman sticks with the 3 at the back he could easily go with Davies, Gana and Schneiderlin in the middle with Ross playing off Rom, saying that though, I still think we need another striker playing up with Rom.

The impact of Koeman is clear to see when not that long ago we were crying out for central players. We have so many good ones at the moment, we can't fit them in when they're all available. It's looking good.

...you have to expect Davies to have a dip in form. It usually happens with young players so I expect he'll be used a bit more sparingly once Gueye returns and Schneiderlin settles in. Eventually there'll be real competition for places which is what we want.

We used to have Barry and McCarthy cover for Baines and Coleman going forward when we had a back four. Age and injury has meant that hasn't worked for a while.

Perhaps Gueye and Schneiderlin can perform this role now. That would allow us to swap Gueye for Funes Mori when he gets back.

Although having three at the back has been effective, a back four may be better against teams that want to dig in.
