Tom Davies

Love the weight on his passing. Seems to always pick passes that mean players don't have to break their stride to get a shot or pass off. When he was in the youth England teams I often read people moaning he only played safe passes but now he trusts the quality of touch of his teammates he'll fire it into feet.

He trusts Rom's touch?

Man Utd supporter colleague of mine (here in Dar es salaam) tells me he watches Everton now just to watch Tom Davies!

Told him we have 2 even better midfielders currently playing in our u23s!

Hehe the boy is making an impression!

Spot on. His assist to Seamus on Saturday pretty much encapsulates everything you said. Nothing safe about his run at City and getting off his feet to hit the box, either.

I really enjoy his quick 1st time or 2nd touch use of the ball... Sometimes simple, safe or direct into feet. Sort of reminds me of Pienaar when at his most positive, linking up play and keeps us ticking over well.

As a comparison I think Ross has greater expectation on him obviously, but sometimes drags things to a halt by over-complicating otherwise simple passes that team mates can read and move onto more easily. He loses possession more frequently that Tom as a result. Still bags of time for both players, but just keep it going like this Tom lad. Great stuff.

He's the amalgam of Gattuso, Pirlo and Inzaghi. Fierce and wins the ball back with ease, picks out every kind of pass and then finishes when he has even half a chance.

I'd say he's worth at least 500m and is the only real contender for the next balon d'or. And the next time he has a game that isn't perfect we should boo him so he can feel the crushing weight of our expectations, and definitely improve because of it.

we do? Thought Davies was pretty much the best we have hence him being here.
In terms of technical ability Walsh and Dowell are ahead of Davies although both are behind Davies in terms of physical development. Walsh can dominate a game and has already proven that he can mix it at league 2 level - Dowells form has been up and down but seems to have been coming on strong recently with his form. Expect Dowell to go out on loan this month. Walsh just coming back from an injury so may miss out on a loan this time round.
