Imagine a future Everton midfield of Walsh Davies Barkley with Dowell wide left. Would be great if we could get a core of players all coming through together and build success on that like United did. Barkley Holgate Davies Browning Lookman Dowell Walsh Calvert Lewin Galloway etc.

Thats the dream mate.

But for the moment, just having these two young local Evertonians running our midfield is a source of massive pride for me.

Is there another team in the prem that is starting three local lads and fans every week? Tom, Ross and Bainesy. Is there even another team that's starting two?

It's seem so obvious to follow this model and idea. The most successful club in recent history built a core around 6 British academy graduates, so why not try it too - our academy is boss anyway

Takes a brave manager to do this and in addition Fergusons job was secure given his past success. However I agree with you 100%.

Read an Unsworth interview where he says Dowell's grown an inch or two since his debut! Watched him for U-23's against Reading and it looks like hes put a bit of muscle on too. Best thing for him would be a loan to the Championship now and see how he gets on, but I do think he's going to make it.

I think Walsh and Williams were both always rated as highly as Davies, but haven't kicked on in the same way yet. Still time for both of them though.
I think the only difference is that neither have been given a chance to kick on in the first team. Based on U23 performances this season I'd say Walsh has been more impressive than Davies.

Looks like a prospect. However with Gueye coming back and Schneiderlin and Barry available I'd look to loan him out for the rest of the season. He's still young and inexperienced so could do with the extra game time imo.
