They did, but in all honesty an 18 year old Rooney was a different league altogether than either Andy Cole or Dwight Yorke.

He was unplayable for a 12 month period near the beginning of his career, but after that he was just very, very good. Also a very different player to Yorke and Cole. To be fair when he played up front with Ronaldo they were better than Yorke and Cole, so I retract my earlier remark. Still not better than Scholes though lol

I didn't mean a front 4. I meant they had 4 attackers from which to chose. Rooney would still have been my first choice and I would probably have picked Cole to play alongside him.

Just my opinion.

What an embarrassment of riches that club had, no wonder they won everything

Imagine if we had that sort of squad depth?

Hopefully Davies continues to develop and McCarthy and Besic can stay fit. Along with Gana and Schneiderlin we'd have incredible depth in the middle of the park

west brom tried to rough him up a lot today, didn't have his best game but kept on giving them the fight, and worked his bollocko off. Glad to see he can mix it up.

His first time flick/pass to Lukaku basically created our second goal today. He's just not scared to try and create something out of nothing.

Difficult game for him today but he never went missing so it was a great learning curve.
