The boy Gana is going in January and Barry is collecting those yellow cards like a monster, you would HOPE that Ronny has seen right through The Clev and I doubt he would trust Gibson to change his tyres, he will get a chance in the next month or 2.

That's good enough for me. Want to see him and the boy Holgate starting in the new year, both have got 'it' for me.

Yeh this is bang on, the issue I have is that Davies isn't 3rd choice. I don't expect him to start over Gueye or Barry but I do expect him to start over McCarthy and especially Cleverley. I don't even dislike the latter 2 players as much as some do on here but I feel strongly that Davies should be in front of them, or at least given a decent chance to be.
He should at least be given an opportunity. Swansea at home was the ideal time when Barry was suspended.

It was yes.

Think Koeman wanted to give McCarthy a chance in his actual position though.

Don't think Jimmy Mac did himself any favours
McCarthy only had 2 run outs with Ireland since August and hadn't even been deemed fit enough for the their latest squad (which in itself tells you something given their track record for enforcing their right to call players up). So he clearly wouldn't have been anywhere near match sharpness and if he did take any part in that game it should have been from the bench.

so its a cert barry is suspended for 2 games while gueye is away for african cup of nations. koeman needs to be getting davies starts in the team before that happens or its very bad management.

im sooo glad he hasnt started any of the last 10-12 games... the lad would have been crushed and let down by the others around him. at such a young age you have to nurture them not chuck them in to a sinking ship of a side!

ross has shown he can be quite mentally weak and his confidence still yo'yo's up and down game by game

Or his energy would have lifted the team

not impossible. but unlikely

Why unlikely?

How would putting a young lad with potential on from the start crush his spirit. His every move will be cheered. This will naturally lift the spirit of the team.

Alternative: put on Tom Cleverly who offers zero offensively or defensively. Crowd on his back, booed when substituted, causing the team to get anxious.

I feel quite relaxed about Davies. He's 18, captains his country, shows that he can handle short periods in the PL, trains with the first team and plays regularly for the u 23s where he was apparently one of the best players the other night. You can also see, in Mondays pics, that he continues to fill out gradually. If somebody , and I hope they have , has a progression map for him then he's smack on it in terms of doing everything right to ensure his progression. I would like to see him on the bench more and getting more PL minutes , in terms of a starting place well the main reason for that is that we've got an overpaid pile of shoite playing ahead of him and not producing anything, you would like to think he could do better. Our frustration at the way we are currently playing shouldn't allow us to have unreasonable expectations of Davies . Back to the he 's only 18 bit and there are still aspects of his game he needs to work on, particularly getting forward more into goalscoring positions, and a tendency to fade out of the game for 10 mins or so. This guy is potentially our future if we develop him properly , I want to see more of him at PL level but in gradual steps, I'm in no rush.

So much pressure on such young shoulders.

Is there?

I think most of us just want to see him get some minutes and will be happy with him just holding his own

I see few expecting him to win us games single handedly

There'll always be tits calling for his culling if he's not 11 out of 10 every week, but they're tits and tits gonna tit
