It is unfair to expect an 18 year old to boost a struggling team.
Koeman was giving him regular outings when results were better, but has not used him as we struggle, I think that may be sensible, similar for Holgate.

he gave him 3 sub appearances and one was the 5 nil battering so thats not true.

I have concerns about bringing young players into a struggling team. I worry that being put into a team which is playing badly and getting beaten could set them back. Now there will be times when you have no choice, the younger players may not be the finished article but they are superior to the established players. It would be great if we were flying and we could introduce Davies into a side which was winning and playing well but this sadly is not the case.
It is very much a judgement call, does Davies and Holgate have the temperature to take a few defeats and suffer the media backlash without any damage.
We must be getting to the stage were we have no choice, our established players are looking so poor even a raw youngster may be a better alternative.
Of course I have no way of knowing but Davies carries himself in a way that leads me to believe he could handle the situation.

I have watched the blues over a number of years and youngsters flourished under the catt - gordon lee - and Howard Kendall - two of them fetched trophies!

Plus, they weren't all drafted into teams that were on a high. Struggling with the same gash journeymen is not the way to cope with poor performances, they wont turn it around, because they're gash. Fresh blood is needed.

I was referring to the position the club was in under previous managers you mentioned. Example 1
Gary Stevens, brought into a poor mid table team in Kendals early tenure, didn't turn out bad did he, and he made some mistakes along the way, but he got his chance because his manager showed faith.

I don't agree. The first two appearances were when we were playing well. The Chelsea game was already lost when Davies came on and no blame could ever attach to Davies.
Davies will not be nineteen until next June. I think he has to carefully managed. I expect that overall this season he will probably be involved in about ten games and that will be built up over the next two or three seasons.

When you look at Davies and Holgate play the thing that strikes me most about them is their confidence and lack of fear. It looks as if they are playing for fun rather than a living.
A few poor performances and costly mistakes could easily erode that confidence and take an awful long time to build back up.

At the end of the day they are teenagers and those of us that are parents are very well aware of the confidence of younger people, however we also know that the same confidence is not always as deeply embedded as it might seem.

If we don't sign a midfielder at the beginning of January, he's the logical choice to play next to Barry until Gana comes back. I can't handle Clev next to Barry in midfield again. I just can't.
