Yeah I hate clubs trying to create an identity. I'd sooner do what Houllier did at Liverpool and sign the likes of Diouf and Diao to come in and create a biot of tension and get rid of that local lad element. Don't care how cheap Hibbo is or what positive influence he has had on the likes of Coleman and Browning who have more athletic ability than Hibbo ever did.

Off to Oldham you pop Tony lad.

I don't even think he is viewed as a right back - this is a deal to link up his retirement / play in reserves with younger lads and a coaching mentor role.

By all accounts he is a great character to have around - proper professional too. I recall SAF did this with Brian McClair at United and he is still at the club.

he can stay as long as he likes for me. Ossie too.
 

I question Roberto on this one, I really do.
Hibbert's been making an undeserved living off the club for far too long. There was a time, years ago, when he was worth a place in our squad, but not any more, and whatever he brings to the backroom I don't think makes us for his shortcomings any more.
 
Expecting the crab Osman to get a new contract any day soon, usually gets a new one every year, or so it feels. The sooner we can move on from mediocre players like those pair the better.

Its good buisness from the club, his contract was up and the amount of money it will cost Everton to keep him on will be on will be buttons compared to what a new signing would cost us to do the job that he will be doing. We cant aford to go out and buy players for the bench and games of lesser importance.

Next season we are playing in 4 competitions, will he be playing against top Premier League sides? No chance, but players like Tony are needed for the Europa League and League cup and his wages will reflect the small part he will have to play on the field over the next two seasons.
 

Why didn't we just promote browning to second choice if we are this skint? To have hibbert as second choice for the next two years is not top four ambition.

We are becoming if not are the oldest squad in the league. I know everton say they give youngsters a go but I think it's only because we are such a small squad that can't afford much else!

I don't think positioning sense has ever been a weakness for Hibbo tbh. The lads not great with the ball at his feet, but defensively he's probably the best full back we actually have.

FFS mate. This is the real world....Hibbert was a decent fullback six years ago, Osman is crap, and Kenwright is bleeding the club dry.
