Tony Hibbert

A spectacular lack of judgement by Hibbert. To call the club 'a horrible business' after scooping up millions over a mediocre career takes the biscuit.

I think he's banked on the 'he's one of us' calculation and that he'd be backed by supporters. He may have deserved a face to face meeting, but that doesn't cover his comments here. And as for 'didn't get the chance to say goodbye to the fans': arm, you had a testimonial mate.

Overall, he typifies a certain type of player that earned their place and corn under Moyes. It's a cosy group of self congratulating backslappers like himself, Osman, Baines and Jagielka.

Hopefully Koeman takes a blow torch to this lot. They've outstayed their welcome big time.
Don't be getting splinters with all this fence sitting @davek...! I disagree with you on Baines and Jagielka, and Osman for the most part, but respect your opinion. Good to see you back.

Hold up...He's a professional footballer isn't he? He was probly getting more than hibbert, too.

And don't they always tell us they're not arsed where they play, as long as they play?

Yes but playing them out of position stunts their development in their natural position. Fellaini can't be a dm if we are hoofing long balls at him, anichebe can't develop as a striker out wide and osman can't develop behind the striker if he is the left midfielder.

As much as he doesn't care as long as he plays, could have been a decent player in his best position.

If he's as much of a blue as us why is he posing in front of the the other lots badge in the first picture?:coffee:

Not seen any pics mate

I agree that it was extremely shabby not letting Tony say goodbye etc.

However, given the fact that Tony has picked up a very handsome wage for not doing too much over the last few years, his outburst is somewhat ill advised and makes him look like a petulant spoilt child.

Do yourself a favour Tony, stick to the fishing and keep quiet.

I find it hard to feel sorry for a multi millionaire who was actually not that good at his trade for the majority of his career.

Him and osman were defo part of the old clique and to be honest we need rid of dead wood. Regardless of loyalty. If being ruthless brings success bring it on ;)

Not nice to hear those comments about us, I've always liked the fact that we appear to look after our players and always welcome them back to Goodison. Surely his agent would have some role in all of this?

No one system is guaranteed to bring success. RS in the 70's/80's, Fergie's Man U and partly also Wenger's Arsenal brought success by showing a lot of loyalty and being a bit cliquey, tho' the odd bit of well-timed ruthlessness from Fergie was also vital.

Then you've got new money like Chelsea and City who are a lot less personal with their players, but get success by being active in the transfer market.

I'm not sure yet which system we're trying to go for.

He should have been told personally, I don't think anyone can doubt that. However, there is certainly at least a hint of sour grapes here.

Unfortunately 'family' type clubs are a thing of the past. They're just money making machines now and to think we're any different is incredibly naive.

Agree with almost everything you say, not to sure over jagielka though

If anything Hibbert should look at what he has been paid by Everton over all these years. At best a mediocre RB who give a average 6/10 over his career. If I was him I would look at the house Ihe ives the cars He drives and more importantly his bank balance and the life he has been able to lead because of Everton. He should be then thanking Everton for all of this and then offering his service to Everton to undertake work in the community.....give something back to the supporters
Will he do all this, not a chance as the poor little soul feels big bad Everton have let him down and cheated him out of saying goodbye
I am over the moon he has gone, he has milked this club for to many years now and we are better without him

Not arsed if we're not 'the peoples club' any more, that term is pure cringe and is the kind of vague meaningless nonsense you'd expect a kopite to come out with. It's a bs feel good term Moyes coined with the sole intention of getting fans on his side.

"oh we're der peoples club la'

CRINGE CRINGE CRINGE

Don't under estimate the power of propaganda. It really wouldn't surprise me if an old Everton stalwart (quite a few years passed his prime) is firing a warning shot to all clubs interested in our players that we ain't the same soft buggers we have been in the past.
If you want our players, pay up.

Or, maybe I'm just a skeptic?

I think they way he was let go was pretty tasteless by the club - but it's bad form for Hibbert to go slagging us off to the press. Not the way things are done Tony, sorry.
We gave him a bloody testomonial during his career mate.

What more does he want ?

Some genuine club ledgends didn't even get one of them.. And they actually won titles etc.
