Much better City and RS (now VVD is crocked) have gotten around the 100 points mark. Both have already dropped points to teams you wouldn't expect them to. I reckon it could be low 80s this year. If we can have our 72 season + a few more wins we could be in touching distance.
A compressed season with teams in Europe having amore games in shorter timeframes
Covid concerns while travelling abroad ( see Celtic and the scum )
No fans in the grounds evening things out
As we have already seen more goals per game that any season in the last 10
Only 1 nil all draw so far this season
Its going to be the second year in a row that an asterisk PL champion will be crowned but I could not give a flying once its us or we get top 4
If we get top four watch Moshiri run amok in the transfer market

Yep I think we have a great chance to get Top 4.

As someone has already said - our rivals are all playing european games and they're going to drop points with having too many games at once.

I think its very difficult to defend the title, and Liverpool have been on a two year run already. They're still favourites, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't win. Man City are the other contenders but I don't see them winning either, if they start losing a few early on, Guardiola will start chasing Champions League again instead. Chelsea still a work in progress. Man U I don't even think will make Top 6. Arsenal are looking good, but they always have a bad run in them. Spurs look like they haven't progressed since that champions league final.

Our secret sauce - amazing dead ball takers and great headers of the ball means when all else fails, try and win a corner which means we have a Plan B. Allan and Doucoure are probably the two Everton cannot afford to miss over a long period of time because that means Delph, Davies, Gomes. Even if James is out we have Siggy, Bernard.

I think to win the title, the champions will only need 80 points this year, last year 66 points was needed for Top 4. I think it will be around that again.

Anyways my prediction -

1. Liverpool
2. Man City
3. Everton (~70 points)
4. Chelsea
5. Arsenal
6. Spurs
7. Leicester
8. Leeds
9. Man U
10. Wolves
Liverscum will not win the league
Losing VVD will have a major effect on them
Psychologically they will suffer not having him to fall back on
If they put Fabinho in defence their midfield suffers and Winnie does not want to be there ,his heart is set on Barca
If they stick with Matip and Gomez they will lose games
I think their season is over as far as winning the league ,top 4 maybe but if they fail to get that they will implode
No CL money next season ,no fans or corporate this season ,expect a fire sale next summer

Chelsea and Utd look dreadful defensively. So opportunities there.

Arsenal will be a good deal more consistent and will be in contention, I would have said Spurs also but they too ship goals far easier than they used to.

For us, I don't think we should have having the conversation until another 20 games have passed.

I don't expect top four at all, but it isn't out of the question either.

Just when you look at what has to go wrong for other clubs - even for us to finish in the top six - and what has to go very very right for us to finish above them, its a very big ask. We knew that weeks ago, and it still holds.

Why not just enjoy our start and take each game as it comes.

Couldn't agree more, we are already starting to see injuries and suspensions and the limitations of our squad will affect our form if any of the big hitters are missing. Let's just enjoy the ride and see where it gets us.

The additional games for the European sides between now and the 10th of December could have a massive impact. In the same time that we have six games these sides will have 12. Ignoring internationals.

Squad depth will help these teams but squad players can't make up for twice the number of matches in a six week period.

They definitely wont win the league ,they may be in and around top 4 but losing their talisman will have a terrible effect on them
Balls into the box will frighten the shoite out of them

I certainly wouldn't draw a line through them, there is a huge kneejerk reaction to his absence & it is obviously a huge blow - but there is scope within their team to change a good bit. I mentioned in the other match thread that I thought he had become a crutch for them and any sense of focus on "the art of defending" had gone out the window. I noted a similar theme with KDB out for Man City against Arsenal, with out him they were more concentrated and weren't expecting him to essentially do everything for them.

They still have three decent centre halfs and I think you will see them pack in the super high lines, which could make them perversely more solid. Watching MNF last night, one thing I noted was 5 clean sheets in their last 21 with him

They will suffer without him
Even Carragher admits it and wants them to sign Upecambo in Jan ,and on Jan 1 at that
I hope Leipzig screw every last penny from them knowing how desperate they will be

Pickford is twice the keeper Adrian could ever aspire to be ,and I do not rate Pickford highly
Pickford will always hold a special place in my heart after Saturday

By all means build a statue after Saturday, but there is a difference between heart and head here. He deserves very very little credit for Saturday. He cost us the game twice only to be bailed out by tight decisions at best
