To those criticising Naismith and Osman: Neither should be first-choice so it isn't ideal having them starting in big games. The fault behind them starting in this game is the fact we didn't strengthen earlier in the transfer window in central positions. However, both did actually play quite well in the first half but went off the boil in the second.

Naismith getting slammed again. If Kev had passed to him instead of blazing over the bar , we might have won 1-0. Naismith would be a hero

Yep don't get this! Naismith is a useful player and gets on with things, playing in positions that aren't his norm without getting in a tiz... He played quite well today

When you play without a striker you wont score goals.

When you "handicap" yourself by playing Osman you dont win games.

Call it knee jerk, defend Naismith and Osman, but they are the reason we lost, coupled with a clueless manager who thinks we dont need another striker when our only LOAN striker is injured.

Utter joke, Martinez lost my respect in January when he became another Kenwrong yes man.

Wowzers. Someone's a wee bit upset x

Think the posters continuously pointing out knee-jerkers are more annoying than the actual knee-jerkers, myself.

Annoying result and performance (both from players and manager) that. Possibly more so than the derby, considering how predictably poor that was.

Thing is Dan that this place has always been good at pointing out the unreasonable comments.

Its turning away too many decent posters as the match thread is a massive soup of melt.

Lots of posters were attracted here because of reasoned views and non tittish debate. Needs protecting that.

If someone calls something stupidly, like Goat above, then it needs pointing out. Just as many have done to me before.

We played the better football and was brilliant passers of the ball, we closed down Spurs at every possible moment however we switched off and conceded.
Howard beaten on his near post.

A lot of fans have conceded the CL spot, I haven't. Things could change over the space of a weekend and we could be back in favour.

Stay positive. We'll thrash Palace if we play like we did today.

LOL. That's the funniest thing I've ever read on here.

Naismith and Osman were the two best players first half, can't knock them.

Osman should have been first off the pitch though; he started doing his pass-the-ball-out-of-play style leading up to his belated substitution, while Naismith was being wasted on the left of midfield.

Martinez got it wrong today.

knee jerks chill!

Ok we lost but I half expected it tbh. away to a team that spends massively every year we shouldn't be expecting a win there. That we are even in contention for top four at this stage of the season is above expectations. When you look at the teams around us and the money they spend year after year, consider our poor luck with injuries ( and to a lesser extent refs), the change in philosophy and style to a more aesthetically pleasing one and our own seemingly endless financial problems is it really surprising if don't finish in the top four? We are going in the right direction. Building a quality side with hungry young players and loyal older pros. Can't believe people are slating Martinez. Absolute disgraces. Have faith and at least a little patience, cliche I know but....

Rome wasn't built in a day!

What did I say that was stupid?

Come on, its easy to sit and pour scorn on words on the screen, but if you think a team challenging for a top 4 place should have Steven Naismith leading the line then I give up mate.

Absolutely correct here.
