I havent seen the game, didnt listen to it on the radio as I've been in work this evening. Cant really be bothered flicking back through the thread but here's my opinion on Everton right now for what it's worth...

We are patched up, there's no doubt about that BUT all I'm going off is Matt Le Tissier's comments, and with him to say at 90 minutes, that we haven't had an attempt for the last 15 minutes, and I quote, "It's been a stroll in the park for the Mighty spurs". Is just simply effing embarassing.

2-0 down, and couldnt muster up one attempt in the last 15 minutes, what a feable shower of overpaid ...... well, I expect more.

Its very, very rare that a team doesn't have to fight for at least a short amount of time to retain their lead, but from what Le Tiss said, I summise there was no fight, or desire. (n)

And thats not just tonight, there was no fight against Benfica, 2 great goals out of nothing against Bolton, but not a great deal else. We scraped a couple of results together in between a poor start and our recent slump. No doubt injuries have an effect, but there is no desire in the players. Down to two things I blame, the players not having their captain, a leader on the pitch AND the leader in the dugout obviously saving his rockets bommy night instead of shoving them up their arse.

Pretty much mate.

But you missed all the lack of control by Jo, another miss by Cahill, defensive errors again, oh and the seemingly 5 on 1 gang bang which Howard eventually gave in.

We do and we don't. We can pass it around well, and up until recently it's been the best since the 80s.

No Pace
Got a point.

Scouse Bottle
What is that? What Carragher has?

Big Squad
We should have a big enough squad sure, but that's not going to happen anytime soon, and it's not Moyes' fault.

Don't know really, got no energy to go over old ground. November is the month where it can make or break our future.

yea dylan ive had me warning so now u can go an run for president... youve got my vote.. HONEST

I am merely highlighting the forum rules you broke. If you wanna get sarcastic about the situation, thats fine. I will play your little game. You say your piece, I do my thing.

Everyones happy....:) (well, I am sure except you)

People always put poor performances down to lack of effort and workrate, I don't buy it to be honest. Individual mistakes and a serious lack of balance are our problems.

And yes, the injuries are a perfectly acceptable excuse even if it is not our only problem. This is a big part of our lack of shape, lack of balance and lack of understanding. We haven't had a steady team all season and we are introducing new players into the side, how are they supposed to gel?

Continuity and stability is an important thing in football and sadly it's not always as easy as putting Neill, Heitinga and Distin alongside each other and telling them to make it work.

Well they are kind of linked mate. Heitinga had a massive lack of effort when he ducked and allowed Huddlestone to crack one in.

Please stop saying it's a perfectly acceptable excuse. Its not acceptable. We can understand why, but it's not accepted, ever.

I appreciate this, but, surely the midfield he had and the the strikers we had on the pitch today know how to mount an attack. Rodwell can come and collect it from deep and try and play it through or the defenders can hoof it up to our big guys Jo or Fellaini. Route one football is always an option even if it isnt pretty. Everyone was happy with route 1 when we played Fiorentina at home, we battered them with relentless balls in the box, relentless pressure. It wasnt pretty but it was effective. Today our defence and midfield both had players out of position, so cut the midfield out if they're not good enough to create a chance. As I havent seen it I'm only going off what I typically expect Moyes' to have done when he realised that Gosling isnt a wide man and couldnt provide from the flanks, or when he realised that rodwell, fellaini and Cahill we're not getting the ball into the feet of our front men............ nothing.

In all seriousness, and i don't believe this is an over-reaction because im not fussed about the carling cup but i think we've sort of out-grown Moyes.
It's been said before and i didn't buy into it, but now i have.

Moyes saved us from relegation, turned us into a force but now other teams have money and are improving rapidly.
Moyes seems to have built a team which is capable of playing much better football than his tactics suggest, we can all **** off a couple of players for hoofing it but chances are, Moyes's tactics involve hoofing it. The players who get us playing football on the ground are injured (Arteta and Pienaar), without them we just can't play properly. Also, those two players bring out the best in Jo and Cahill because they are playing the football, getting the balls in that they need.

We have so many excuses we could use but at the end of the day, all they are is excuses and most other teams won't really care. Now if Moyes would change his ways by having faith in his younger players to field a weaker team in certain situations like today, and play without hoofing it and along the floor then maybe we could handle it a bit better without our most important players injured. But he wont.

Surely our midfeild should do what? Christ ones 17 and the other is in their early 20's both have played three away games in nine games - we shouldnt expect anything pther then what we got.

Trying to create drama that just isnt there is just devisive - there are problems in the team come down to one thing and thats a lack of options and varience, brought about by one thing and that injuries - no nothing else - injuries.

Have i been the only one watching Everton over the last 3 years. Same team - all injured.

When times are hard lads, you get behind your team - the mark of a real fan is supporting your team in bad (but transient) times. Its easy to get excited on FA cuup final day.

Not really, Rodwell is neat and tidy and has creative qualities but he's hardly what you'd call a true creative player, not like Arteta or Pienaar. And as you say, he's spends most of the game starting attacks in his own half, he's the holding midfielder.

Fellaini is neat and tidy at best and nowhere near creative enough to play the attacking centre midfield role. He's got his strengths but that's not his game. I think we all know he's a second striker. So that's looking at the centre midfield, two inexperienced players I'd also like to add, neither of which would be in the first team with everyone fit.

Tim Cahill is no wide player and Gosling, despite his effort and attitude will never be anything more than a decent Premier League player. Both players have energy, both of them will run all day but they can't retain possession, go past a fullback and naturally, they have limited creative qualities.

And to be honest, we've gone long for alot of the season and it hasn't worked. We are at our best when we mix it up like we did against Fiorentina, that was a great mix of technical and physical football. We didn't just go long all game, we varied our play and mixed it up well.

The most creative players we have available to us are our strikers and that's not really ideal, I don't really need to explain that to be honest.
