Toxic Fans - Are They Holding Us Back?

Seen someone raise a point there about Evertonians writing off Anthony Gordon and chasing him out, the same Anthony Gordon who’s ripping Liverpool apart right now starring for the richest club in the world.

Wasn’t sure what to think about that.
But when he was at Everton he skinned that number 66 bloke.

Every club will have a minority of idiots right through all the league's. With social media now anyone can pose as a fan of anyone and spout crap to players. Everton don't have a monopoly on toxic fans, they are everywhere and they'll be here through success or failure

Dyche very markedly commented on “the nervousness at Goodison effecting the players” post game yesterday. He’s not the first home or opposition manager to note this.

Everton seek to play better away from home, what do we think causes this?

Might Goodison not be the advantage some make it out to be?
From my experience if it's still 0-0 at 65 mins it feels like we're losing.

Horrid atmosphere.

I can understand all sides really. It’s a shame.

I'm probably gonna get a bit of grief for this but it is what it is.

It's no coincidence that them weirdos over the park, who instantly believe every player who pulls on a red shirt is world class and have this unwavering belief that their team is the best thing in the world, have the seemingly opposing effect on the atmosphere generated compared to goodison.

Best we've done in the last few years is in covid when there was no fans, worst run for them? In covid, when their collective of weirdos weren't there.

I'm not saying that our fans are inferior to theirs, we are better than them in so many metrics it's off the scale. Look at the scenes from yesterday over a couple of ref decisions, and the pathetic toxic response from them. But they almost never do that to their own players, I can only think of karius, from memory.(no doubt someone will respond with a list to prove me wrong)

We do it to our players on a daily basis. Our fan base has become toxic and it was inevitable.

We need to give them support no matter what, like the Palace game, that can't be a one off, that needs to be the culture. Our players need to step onto that pitch with the confidence that even if they're losing 2 nil, the fans will back them. As soon as we concede, most fans are accepting defeat.

We are a fanbase with PTSD, and it's not our fault, we're not out there on the pitch nor in the boardroom, it's years of mismanagement, and corruption from a man who would seemingly rather see the club go under than him let it go.

It's often said that attitude reflects leadership. One look at our leadership tell you everything you need to know. Sadly
