I'm not McGeadys biggest hater but I have to disagree here. If we can offload him for 3m that would be great.

Also think a player like Mertens could be signed with Mirallas staying. That might be me being too optimistic though.
McGeady off the bench against tiring teams was always the best way to use him. Deulofeu will now be a starter, so too will be Lennon or whoever comes in to replace Mirallas. Are we saying we can attract a better option off the bench than McGeady?

We really aren't in that position.

Mate i'm certain we won't sign Lennon, also certain we will shift McGeady

I think the latter depends on a fee. The £1m stuff knocking about is laughable...even more laughable is Everton supporters who'd accept a lowball offer like that. If no one wants to come in with a £4M bid, as far as I'm concerned he wont be going anywhere.

Lennon: I wouldn't underestimate how much Martinez appreciated his time here last season. I'm equally certain if the numbers add up he'll be back here again by the end of the window.

With McGeady mate you have to look at exactly what he does bring though, honestly he's not had any more impact than you could easily pick up on a loan player - something that i think we wil see happening again as Martinez has form for loaning wide players - Del, Atsu, Lenno - in just two seasons, maybe he likes the possible impact they can have without much of an outlay that proven quality costs their. I'd take him going for nowt mate honestly, his wages aren't worth what he offers, anything like 4m i'd cartwheel at

Lennon won't work out mate, Levy has massive form for getting every penny out of a transfer and were the polar opposite in buying temrs, he will end up at another prem team as we won't stump up 8m+

Totally agree mate. Keep McGeady or take 1m? McGeady all day long for me, he's a different option and its a squad game.

As @bluestevon says, he isn't wages aren't worth what he contributes to Everton. He shows glimpses of class, but they come every several months, if he found consistency then I think we would all like him. Personally don't think he's worth it.

Also, I don't think Deulofeu will start as many games as people think.. I think we will sign another winger and Martinez is going to rotate between them. Deulofeu therefore could be used against the tiring teams.

Shaqiri could be our number ten, playing in the hole, spraying passes round to our sexy wingers, or sweet balls through to Lukaku. He can also take it past a player and score as well. Think of him in an attacking 'quarterback' position, or spearheading a false nine with the fluidity of a Trequartista but the core dynamics of a Engagche or hybrid second striker.

Ahem.

Would never have got away with a post like this 4 years ago. Nobody even noticed the sarcasm.

What I was applying by that is that it seems we'll have to sell now in order to buy. The reason I believe that is cos Martinez has also said the we'll have to keep one eye on the budget. The only kitty we had till now seems to have been spend on Del Boy. Its not like he's plotting a 20M move for a CB. Any good CB shouldn't cost more than 15M imo. The one CB we were slightly linked with is going to West Ham. Hence, it seems we have to sell someone (McGeady/Gibson) in order to raise money and buy.
So you think our entire transfer budget was in the neighborhood of £5mil?

There's a deal to be done with Spurs if Mirallas is involved.

On McGeady: done enough in Everton's euro campaign for another PL club to cough up a fee for him. We live in a world where Victor went for £6M..and that was before the daft cash kicked in.

People tend to throw the baby out with the bath water because they get all bent out of shape about a run of bad performances for their own team. Therefore someone is 'worthless'. The truth is fans are too close to the situation. If Everton let him go for anything less than £4M they must be stupid. But they're not on these matters anymore. They can drive through a decent settlement.

As said, I'd be happy to see him stay. He does a job late on off the bench. I have no idea who people think we can get to deputise for our starting players. A massive reality check is needed. This is Everton we're talking about...a club that gets in £35M this summer and we're waiting to sell Mirallas so Martinez can move in the transfer window again.

My cat is a better option than Buckfast Judas.

Think your right their mate, think del will be used more than his first season with us, maybe like barkley was this year as far as game time goes, but wont be a every game starter by a long shot, also think we will bring in another winger on a permanent who can play the no.10 slot as well (Mertens or the like - although doubt it will be anyone linked to us so far) deal plus a loan - if we do shift McGeady
