So basically you are saying that we shouldn't sell McCarthy because no one is going to pay that price. That's fine and I understand that position but if we get Roberto and with the players we already have I can see the argument for selling him.
So thats Mirallas and McCarthy being sold by you now...

You're getting very close mate, very very close.

I don´t know who you are writing half of that to, because I haven´t mentioned his position, let alone written him off as a CDM.

His profile would be......attacking mid like Iniesta, that was what was intended for him but he has shown no sign of being that type of player since joining the first team squad. His last season was as occasional fill-in for Busquets. But all of that is a bit besides the point, because despite willing him on in every game to make his mark, he hasn´t really done that in any position. Simple easy passes which I don´t think anybody who watched him could describe as "fantastic" despite the accuracy...no dribbling, certainly not enough to bother even mention his dribbling skills, let alone say he is a good dribbler.

He may have all the skills to be a much more impressive footballer, but I am not sure if he will show that at Barça, and he certainly hasn´t up until now. Players there nowadays simply don´t get the time and patience which Xavi and Inesta received in their first few years.
That's exactly how I think we might be looking to use him. It's why I suggested him at the start of the window for that role. The fact that he hasn't succeeded in playing that role at the best club in the world with an attack 3 of MSN and a new Barca which aims to get the ball to them as fast as possible isn't a reason to discard him for that position. Even Iniesta has been poor by his standards this season playing in that formation.

I think he could be our new play maker but as you've rightly pointed out he's been played in a variety of different positions so it's hard to say anything really about him except just what my own personal opinion is. Feel free to disagree with it but if you think his profile is similar to Iniesta wouldn't that also mean that you also think he's a good dribbler and passer and could play on our left?

I don't even see were you disagree with me since I thought you were righting him off playing further forward except now that perhaps it's because he hasn't made it at Barca. Big deal, neither did Deulofeu and Roberto is far further along that him.

I don't think we have a hope in hell this window but January might be interesting.

SCHALKE WANT SHAQIRI

According the German sports magazine Kicker, Schalke are highly interested in signing Inter Milan’s Xherdan Shaqiri.

Shaqiri, who was subject to a bid from Stoke City, would cost Schalke around €16m according to Kicker. With a player needing to leave the Gelsenkirchen club in order for Shaqiri to come in.

Jefferson Farfan, whose contract expires next summer, would be the leading candidate to exit, in order for Shaqiri to come in.

With Mo injured (how serious?) looking at the pre-flight team photo we looked a little 'lightweight' perhaps that's why in the second half Barry started playing 'clumsy' as McCarthy had seen his 45mins. Should we be thinking about someone with a little more steeliness in the Middle, or a couple of injuries could leave us with a pairing of Osman and Barkley ?????
Just a thought...

FFS we can't even lure Scott Dann to us!!! Doesn't he know what a beacon of culture and life Merseyside is compared to London?!?!

Why might it be interesting?
Transfer ban ends.

There was a lot of rumours suggesting he wanted to leave for first team football and then Enrique started playing him further back. Enrique has since come out and said he's going nowhere in the summer after he impressed in that position but that he still can't guarantee him first team football.

It would make sense if it's still the case he can't get 1st team football that Roberto will still want to leave so Barca may be willing to let him go in January.
