Incredibly underwhelming:
Squad is down to its bare bones - and even missing certain positions (Number 10)
We managed to double the price we are paying for a complete gamble defender
We rejected a massive bid for a bang average player (Naismith)

We're buying a helicopter ?

Do you know a better way to mow the grass than upside down helicopter flyover?

Why do you think selling players is easy?

I understand your point ... but we (allegedly) got an 8m offer for Naismith ... so you can forgive people for thinking it seems easy. That's not even FM -- that's proper FIFA transfer logic right there.

This perfectly sums it up. By not buying a player to really take us to the next level in the position we needed, I think it simply delays a sale of Stones and Lukaku to next summer at best (possibly winter). We bring in someone like Yarmolenko and have a good first half, perhaps challenging for the top 4 maybe we get another year or even more to build. Perhaps we still can and will be pulling for us to make it. But we just made it harder than it could have been. Barkley, Stones, and Lukaku will recognize the lack of a signing and will not be so nice when they get tapped up again.

Indeed. Lukaku and Stones are gone next summer, and you can't blame them for being more ambitious than the club.
