That's a silly way to think. Because we got a deal on one player, doesn't mean we should overvalue another.

I'm not saying it's efficient, but it helps balance things out when you look at the club's overall business for a window. Sometimes the market dictates the money goes in the wrong direction.

I asked this in the Evans thread but it's worth repeating: would people feel better if the club paid £8 million for Deulofeu and £4 million for Evans? Same price in the end.

Yes even though it is the same amount in total that's a moot point. Each transfer should be judged on its own merits and values and people just think we're Evans is too expensive at £8 million and would rather get him for nearer £4 million.

24 million outlay with next to nothing resale value against him as he will be 32.
