This Van Dijk rumour 'conveniently' arises as we're about to play 2 games in Scotland. Don't think there's anything in it myself. To be fair I don't know much about him but if he can head a ball away from a corner or set piece that would be a positive for us (if we are actually interested in him at that price).

I think that's the most sensible conclusion. He (and others talking for him) have mentioned Celtic as an opportunity to play CL football.

If they were not to qualify for the group stages then it would then definitely strengthen our hand in any negotiations.

Any deal before hand would certainly require us to either put in a relatively substantial bid, or for us to offer him a strong package to tempt him.

Potentially both. It's also risky business as we may find that we cannot get him at all, which leaves us going for a second or third option.

You'd love Everton to just throw a tempting bid in now to start the ball rolling, maybe even turn his head, but that's not going to happen.

He's pretty much told Celtic he's off

They've asked him to stick around to ensure they qualify and then they'll sell him on. It's just a matter of who signs him now

Hopefully it's us

Loving all the people having a go at him because he's coming from Scotland

Cos yeah, no one's ever come from Scotland and done well for Everton. Whose that testimonial for next week again?

our club lets the media belittle us all the time and allow the media to ruin our preseason and mood. James rumours have been for ages now and not even a word from James, all it takes an interview so seems like the agent and the club are not on the same page. we all know mirrallas wants out so either offer him a new contract or sell him. john is a hard one as we dont know what going on here, usually hard for players to say no to the likes of rich clubs who are in the CL so basically all we can do is offer him a new contract with a payrise but we cant do this over-night, we cant pay him 60k now as we wont be able to afford his next payrise.
