The Toffees are known to be in the market for a creative player able to fulfil their tricky No.10 role.
And will be buoyed by Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo admission that he is powerless to keep the Spanish star at the Balaidos stadium.
Nolito, 28, recently extended his contract until 2019, but a £12.6m release clause embedded in the deal leaves them susceptible to potential suitors.

GETTYHELPLESS: Celta Vigo boss accepts he is powerless to keep Nolito
“If someone pays his release clause, we will find a replacement just as we would do with any other player”
Celta Vigo coach Eduardo Berizzo
Berizzo told Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo: "If someone pays his release clause, we will find a replacement just as we would do with any other player.
"It would be an important loss for us and it would mean we would have to search for an important replacement."
The coach added: "At times, change means new enthusiasm. Whoever leaves [the club], we will find a replacement in the market."
Roberto Martinez now has the tricky job of beating rival bidders Barcelona to his signature.

"The Toffees are known to be in the market for a creative player able to fulfil their tricky No.10 role."

Some guy asked about him within the football forum and Martinez said something like "yes I like him, I like anyone who scores a hat-trick against us, however he isn't the type of player we are after. He plays high up the pitch and for our "number 10" position, I want someone who can pick up the ball in deep positions, like Gareth Barry, and also be able to dictate the play further up the pitch i.e. not Nolito.

If Mirrallas left though I do think we've be interested.

Other side of the coin - Martinez said that signing Deulofeu wasn't realistic. Now we know that negotiations were going on for months therefore he was talking guff.

Ashley Williams would be a great signing, though if we have to sell stones to get him no thanks.

If Swansea are to move onto the next level, ie in that top 7 which - although could change after another season of bottom 10 - I still consider us being within, Williams to me is the type of player they need to bin and upgrade on.

On the ball he is pretty useless. He's like a poor-man's Jagielka.

And for 25million? Jesus Wept.

Forgive my probable ignorance - but what forum? I'm imagining some fella claiming to be Martinez on here, in some horribly extreme variant of 'ITK'-ness haha...

If this is true what kinda of new age number 10 is this? We'd have players in the middle tripping over each other.

Didn't say phenomenal. Doubting the veracity of this claim.

On last season's form? No. Doesn't mean they won't/can't regain the same form. People just seem to keep forgetting we're no worse off squad wise than when we came 5th.

Yes because i dont want to finish 5th. I want better. We needed the same new players last summer

Representatives of the main Everton independent websites sat down with Roberto Martinez for a 90-minute interview at Finch Farm last Friday.
The discussion covered a range of issues, from the impact of the Europa League and the merits of signing a new striker this summer to the futures of the likes of Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway.
