By that logic, the only way we can prove to you that we have money to waste.... is by wasting it.

Hmmmmmm.
It's not about wasting money, it's getting the required quality in. We were told by Martinez they had identified targets at the end of the season. Well we have got two of those targets in. One a free. So what hasn't more progress been made on the other targets I.e. Submitting a bid. Bobby told us he knows who he wants why are they not here?

Or I think you ought to see smaller clubs who have been in and out of the league blowing us out the water in terms of spending.

Having £22m doesn't mean you have to spend it on the same players they are, though if you're calling Cabaye 'tat' then I completely disagree.

If you do a spot of vaulting you'll find Cabaye was the player I felt would be just right for us. My point is a) your responses to posts seem to be negative when Everton-related as a matter of course, and b) spending money for the sake of it can be detrimental. The window has another month....we have to be a bit more prudent with the money we have than most so once RM knows who he can get on loans to improve the squad I'm sure you'll see him throw the dough at a decent signing or too.....a few people need to cool their jets when it comes to criticising the Club for every single issue especially when the things they get criticised for haven't even happened....like selling Stones, McCarthy, Mirallas, Barkley and so on. Of course, as a Club/ Board they've made some calamitous cock-ups and should be rightly criticised, but equally they've done some fine things too.....there just needs to be a balance instead of full-on fume.

Smaller, mid-table clubs blowing us out of the water spending-wise.....and being "in and out of the league".....I think you just absolutely nailed the point unwittingly. There's a reason why these clubs are yo-yoing in and out of the league....they lack structure and organisation and get caught up on the transfer train buying any old rubbish because they think they need to spend, spend, spend.
They invariably buy [Poor language removed] and end up relegated. Remember the fume when we 'lost out' to the likes of QPR and Norwich for dross like Hoilett, Caulker and that van Wolfswinkel fella who scored his only goal against us and was previously lauded as 'the one'.....

He also said we'd get a couple of players in early and then get more in near the end of the transfer window though, we have no reason to doubt that yet

I don't get why people fume and panic about what we have or havnt signed when there's still a month left.

I'm pretty sure we have better irons in the fire than what west ham, stoke or any other mid range club are signing at the moment!

Patience dear children, the best deals are more often than not done at the end. It's the way we HAVE to roll.

I'm pretty certain we'll see at least 3 in through the door. Maybe four!

There is no chance we'll sign four - nor do we need to. Unless we start selling players.
A centre half, and a player who can cover positions behind the striker. That's what we need - and hopefully will get.

I believe that Martinez thinks there's a lot of dross in the market - Connor Wickham and James Chester for£8mn + says it all. Our first team is good and we are looking and squad depth in almost all positions. If that means waiting till the end of the month to have a more positive overall season, maybe having to endure a few rocky games at the start, I'm OK with this.

Newcastle bought loads of players last year, Cabella, Riviere etc. All of them except Janmaat were turd. If you buy too much then they take ages to gel - Wenger has always pointed this out and his Arsenal team are at their strongest in ages because they have bought a few players every year while making sure the team dynamic remains the same. I think bobby is of the same mindset.

I'm sure we'll get some boss people and loanees in. Just let's be patient.

Is it though? Or do we just think it is? We were beyond crap last season.

A rocky start as you put it would be very difficult to take and put Martinez under immediate pressure. Not a good idea.
