Of course it's the name which is the attraction. The thing which is hard to gauge is whether he would suit the league and logically its a £10mil+ punt which if it works he could be worth 4 times that but if it doesnt then possibly a balotelli situation.

For the money he would cost though i would assume there would be even better players in Brazil we could sign. However, some of them like Ganso look world class then never really hear of them again...

I know he played outside the league, he did well for AC milan at first, then injuries and other factors are what have lead him to be sold back to that league, and i've seen bits of the brazilian league (Far from expert, so if you've watched more fair enough) but from reports and other people he hasn't set the world alight there.

I don't think he's very good, certainly not for this league and i'm guessing people are attracted to the name more than his actual ability to play in the premier league.

It's easier to be a good player in Brazil and Italy than it is here.

Look at leeds under O'Leary, very young dynamic side and totally fearless. We have a lot of similarities to that team actually but our style is totally different.

Hmm ... even if we leave aside the issue of Howard, you've got a young forward line there who've all got a massive amount still to prove. Can Lukaku improve his all round game ? Is Barkley really the player we thought he was, after his stinker of a season ? Can Deulofeu show that he's more than just a handy impact sub ? They're nowhere near the best in the premiership yet. And if you're really going to be the best, you need to have the best second XI as well, and we're light years away from that.

How do you know who we have or haven't submitted a bid for? There's still four weeks left for Pete's sake.
In this day and age of sky sports 24 hour news channel and agents looking to make as much money as they can over transfers, I can't believe that somehow everton have lodged a substantial bid for someone and it's not been either leaked by the agent or selling club to drive the price up. I'm sorry yes there is 4 weeks till the end of the window, but I can already see similarities to last season. The season is one week from starting and we still grossly underprepared squad wise. As from the end of last season we needed at least one centre half and no. 10 and still no sign of either.

I loathe this line of argument.

No realistic person expects us to have all our business done this early, but it is crucial we get all of our key business done before the season starts, which is in one week.

So either we have got our key business done, or we're trying to save a few mil at the risk of starting the season poorly. Not sure which is more terrifying.

How do you rate Deulofeu in comparison to McGeady mate?

Take a deep breath. The market is currently awash with cash - there's some real dross changing hands for absolutely ridiculous money right now. No point getting caught up in the frenzy.

dont see what mcgeady has to do with it or what your point is tbh?
but i could say is deulofeu currently more complete than lennon ? (so why not sell mcgeady and buy the much better lennon and deulofeu ?)

we finished outside the top 10 and played garbage football (the dullest ive seen us play in over 30 years). the season starts in 1 week and we arent a much better squad , if at all , and have spent buttons.
i actually think our quest to improve our chances of success have been minimal , if not completely stagnant.

No that's not the case at all, stop generalising and making everybody out to be stupid.

People expect the club to do business in summer, especially after such a poor season last. We have spen the least of all the prem clubs once again on the 1st of August, which is down to a shrewd bit of business on Cleverly and Del, but the areas we are still short in need addressing.

Nobody is saying "just panic buy", just address the areas that need addressing in time for the season, is that too unrealistic to ask?

Name 4 players you would of gone and bought.
Only one i sort of wished we went and got is wijnaldum

Bit of a difficult one. We could go and buy a couple of players now who may not be of the quality required or we wait till last 2 days and get more quality at a better price. I can see both sides of people's argument and it is frustrating the way we work.

I think it's worth waiting for certain players but crucial we 'get our man' for others.

I think we're being immensely risky not signing another CB. We've lost two ffs, and one of our two seniour CBs is 21!

Also we desperately need a number 10. Going out and doing everything to get the player you want and ensuring they have time to adapt is so important. Hell even West Ham and Newcastle have done that for their equivalent key players (Payet and Wijnaldum).

The point is very simple, as demonstrated by the quotes below.

You said:
We wont be signing anyone of note , hardly spending a penny and no one anywhere nere better than we already have.

In response to your statement that we won't be signing anyone better than we already have, I gently pointed out that we have ALREADY signed Deulofeu, who is better than McGeady - I did it in the form of a question, as mild jest at your expense. I apologise.

If you re-read my last paragraph, you'll see the partial explanation for why we have not yet signed Lennon - prices are currently too high, not representing value for money. Lennon is rumoured to have a price tag of £9m, which is WAY too much for him. If we have that amount to spend on a winger we should be looking at Yarmolenko. HOWEVER, by waiting a bit we could well benefit from Spurs dropping Lennon's price to a more reasonable level.

According to rumors in the press we have put bids in for players. I'm not saying it's a good idea to put off our big signings until late in the window, but if that's what it takes (Lukaku on loan for example) then so be it. But people pretending that they know exactly how our transfer process works and that we haven't put a bid in for anyone have an axe to grind and are looking for any opportunity.

Well maybe your opinion sucks!

Does it matter who I thought we should have bought? That is completely subjective.

The facts are, we still don't have the fabled "number 10" the manager said he wanted as a priority and also are an injury short of playing inexperienced players in the first team in a very tough fixture month.
