Transfer Window Thread

This thread turns into a Clique fest when its free game.......How do I join?

Perhaps we could try two threads. One for idle speculation and cliqueness, the other for credible transfer rumours and intelligent analysis.

Has he done step one?
afew quotes which have been mentioned on here before about needing a playmaker to unlock defenses, missing Pienaar and Osman, praising the skills not easily found in UK players would suggest Step One has been arrived at. I am not so fond of the twelve steps as they are a tad too religious for me but around step four you get to take an inventory and then right in the middle you determine to fix the issues, but Step 10 maybe a problem in this scenario as Bobby Brown Shoes has not shown a proclivity to admit when he is wrong....

There should be plenty of money available. We have yet another extra 30 million POUNDS to spend this summer from the current TV deal. There is then another extra 30 million pound to spend next summer, and then the increase in money goes well beyond 30 million pound a year when the new TV deal starts in 2017. Everton could easily obtain 30 million POUND and then spend it this summer, whether they want to or choose to is another matter.

You convert these figures into Euros and what have you got, an extra 80 million Euros that needs to be spent between now and the end of next summer, and then we will have probably double that once the new deal kicks in. The idea that money is in short supply at Everton is laughable. We have loads of extra money coming our way which needs to be spent.
You would think so, wouldn't you?

I honestly think that had more to do with playing McCarthy and Barry. With Barkley playing deeper and Cleverly, Deulofeu and Mirallas in front I think we have more than enough firepower to hurt teams.

I don't think we've ever lacked firepower, I think we lack creativity and guile that a new number 10 would give us.

Any 'actual' transfer news today?
Depends on what source you deem credible mate.
This was from the echo today:

Confirmed: Everton interested in Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum

Everton are set to rival Newcastle United for the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum.
The PSV Eindhoven midfielder looks ready to leave the Dutch club this summer and the Blues have now registered their interest in the 24-year-old.
Newcastle are said to be favourites to sign the Holland international, who played at the World Cup last year, but the ECHO understands that Everton have also entered the race for his signature.
The Rotterdam-born playmaker started out at hometown club Feyenoord before moving to PSV where he won the Eredivisie this season as captain of the Dutch outfit.

I think those kinds of players are very difficult to buy. Even Chelsea struggle with teams that park the bus and if it wasn't for Hazard they would struggle even more. Plus Rom doesn't really suit that style as much. Someone like Giroud is better.

I think we need to move the ball forward faster and have one of our midfield duo running from deep. Lambert tried to solve Villa's problem with signing Gil and it had limited success. I think we need a bit of a rethink plus I think it's what the fans want.

So basically the echo are doing the clubs work by saying we are interested in players, but we probably wont get them due to xyz being interested,

is this to keep the fans happy?
