Everton offer trial to highly-rated River Plate midfielder Tomas Andrade
SIMON JONES:
Everton are taking a look at River Plate midfielder Tomas Andrade.

Sportsmail revealed talks were ongoing last month and the 19-year-old has arrived to train with Everton ahead of a prospective move from the Argentine club.

Andrade is a left-footed playmaker, who models his game on former Villarreal and Argentina midfielder Joan Riquelme.

A former star of the World U17 Championships, he has been watched by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid but Everton hope to beat off competition should he continue to impress.

Not him again!! Oh well, at least it's not Muller or Moutinho

“Everton then we want Kevin Mirallas. The fee has come to €8 million (£5.6 million). And he is not at peace with his coach. The player just needs convincing.”

.......quote above attributed to Fenerbace.

Just seen that too. It was Fenerabache's general secretary who said it. Does that mean we've agreed a fee with them and that they just need to convince him to sign a deal?

Continued to be linked with that Halilovic today. Here's a bit of an update, apparently.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have accepted Alen Halilovic’s wish to leave Camp Nou this summer, as he looks for a loan move across Europe.

The talented midfielder was part of Barcelona B last term, and with first-team chances looking limited this season, he wants to ensure that he can play top flight football.

When Halilovic was signed last summer, it was expected that he would spend one season in the B team, before moving up to the senior squad. However, his development plan has changed, and as the Catalan club broke their initial promise, they are accepting of his desire to move away.

The report states that the youngster, 19, has met with Barca chiefs to discuss his future, and they have accepted that he needs another year away, before moving into the senior team for next season.

Two teams from England are interested in him, with Sport claiming Everton and West Ham had made transfer offers to sign Halilovic, and Barcelona’s new stance should see them accept an offer for their starlet - but only on loan.

It is stated that both Barca and Halilovic are looking for a club who can offer him consistent football in a technical, ball-playing side, so as to ensure that the Croatian wonderkid can develop in the same style as he would play at Camp Nou.

I'd take him. Would be our best attacking playmaker. Bilic is a terrible manager and would probably kill him but would Martinez get the best out of him? hmm... It looks like our link with Barca is gone out the window anyway.

That would be a signing I really don't understand. He looks very raw and frankly doesn't have great pace and is a little lightweight.

What's the point of developing this player when we could have signed Gil for 4m who has just as much technical ability yet is older and more developed both maturity and physically with playing as a starter for a couple of seasons in La Liga.

We don't have a good reputation with Barca. Deulofeu was meant to be their new Messi and within a year of joining us has been sold. They also didn't loan him back to us when the player wanted to come back instead farming him out to Sevilla.

We need players that are ready now Martinez you ted, a 19 year old on loan or one who won't ever leave the under 21 side, but no doubt the "new modric/riquelme" tags will keep the fans happy whilst we spend the bare minimum.

I'm pretty sure that 'the Ted' will be looking for players that are already in/approaching their prime, mate. Probably why they're so hard to get and why it might go down to the wire.
