He has played practically every minute of pre-season for them and been one of their best players and covers a multitude of positions including now right back which is a big weakness of their's.

There's absolutely no chance we will get him before January and even then it would be unlikely. If he was our main target it's time to go to our plan B, hopefully we have one.

btw - It looks like Pep was right when he said Roberto is so good he can play anywhere.

I could trawl through a series of newspaper articles to find the ones saying we were interested in both players. These are not credible sources though, there are none for any transfer short of Roberto coming out and saying 'we've bid for x player'. So your question is a bit pointless. I've got no way of knowing if we were in for them, the same way no one on this thread has anyway of knowing if we were ever interested in Dann, Evans, Payet, Ogbonna etc. they were all media stories. 'Show me a credible source' would make this entire thread's contents redundant. Hopefully you are right and we were never even interested in Sako and Elmohamody because in my opinion they are garbage championship wingers.

Think he would be a great signing for deep midfield getting the minutes that Gibson isn't fit enough to get. We need a controller in the middle with a varied passing range long and short.
