@JacquiOatley: I asked Charlie Austin how much he wants to stay at #QPR: "it's out of my hands, it's up to the club what they want to do". @bbc5live
@JacquiOatley: Ramsey on Austin: "If we get the right money he'll be on his way. We want it sorted out one way or another as it's not fair on the player."

Thats the key. (Though I guess it is in all transfers). But with 1 year left, they know an English striker is an attractive target.

They will want the full wad up front, buying clubs will want to either stage, or have a performance element factored in. He did fail a medical at Hull after all.

Think with Austin there will be clubs willing to pay more than us, so he's just gonna have to really want to come to us.

That's if we're even in for him.

Wouldn't it be nice to just have the money to pay the extra 2-3m that we are probably off their valuation and just be able to write it off as cost of doing business like Utd do!

I think the accepted line is that the £15m being quoted is off putting for most, especially with his patchy medical record.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's some movement tonight though and a couple of heated rumours flying round, nothing like some transfer activity to distract from the crap result.

It isn't the 60m signings that really make me jealous of the rich clubs, it is that worry of having to watch the money so much that have to time when to bring players in to save on salaries and that extra little bit of wiggle room to get a deal over the line.

I have no idea how these deals are worked out, but it seems that the selling club usually get something close to their valuation. But the folk doing the deals probably also have mega egos/mega self interest so that might be what draws them out. Losing face and all that.
