Trying to look on the bright side, it's possible that Martinez passed on them, and that better players will sign before the deadline.

Don't think he passed on them but they signed for west ham for other reasons, Payet got way more than we were most likely offering and ogbonna will get guaranteed first team football there instead of 3rd choice here

More charming maybe , certainly more verbose.
There is no doubt that Hughes is a bigger name than Martinez - Man U , Barca and Bayern Munich v Zaragoza , Wigan and Swansea . And before anyone says that Mourinho and Wenger didnt play at any level Martinez is not in that company.
One would hope that he would choose us over a former pub team and hope that he wasnt watching yesterday
