Travel thread 3.0

My experience of NYC in March is that it's freezing. April is much more pleasant. Prices will fluctuate according to seasonality.

Personally, I like being around Times square but it costs. I know many people stay in Brooklyn rather than Manhattan as it's more cost effective, within easy travelling distance and with good restaurant options.

1 week is a long time in Manhattan. It's not that big and has nowhere near the amount of things to see and do as London, Paris, Tokyo and a whole list of other big cities.
Maybe staying across the river in NJ might be a more cost effective option too.

Off to Nice later this month. Would like to travel around Scandinavia but it is just so expensive. I went to Oslo a while back but it just feels wrong spending so much an a pint for example, especially if you intend to have few.
Went to Stockholm and it wasn't as expensive as I was expecting. Around £7 a pint. It's probably more to do with here getting more expensive though.

In Manchester airport now with a pint of Asahi in prep for Japan - I’d forgotten how horrid airport security was as an experience
Went to Kefalonia a few weeks ago flying from Manchester. Got to the airport 4am for a 6.30am flight…. After checking in bags and going through security we had to run to our departure gate and were lucky to make it in time …. Horrible experience all that security but necessary I accept.

Back a couple of days ago from Seville and Cordoba.....weather was atrocious which is really abnormal for that region. We had almighty storms and rain with high, gusting winds which pulled up trees and signposts. That said, the Cruzcampo and the tapas made up for it.

Toronto-bound for work next week.

A few years ago we flew back from Vegas connecting at Manchester before getting back to Dublin. There was about 20 people doing the same journey so when we arrived in Manchester we were put on a minibus and brought to go through security again in a tiny room for only those on our flight.

Anything that people had bought at duty free in Vegas was confiscated as they said this was over the liquid limit for handheld luggage. Never had that type of situation before or again with a connecting flight. Terrible airport.

Came back from Kos on Tuesday. The queues for passport checks were so long and slow we only got on the plane to Stansted ten minutes before the scheduled take off time. Eventually took off 20 minutes late.

Took loads of photos with my Nikon P900 camera. This is one of my favourites - a sparrow taking a bath by the pool.
