Booked lisbon for end of november

Things to do?
Places to go?
Places to avoid?
Best pubs?

Great city. Get your walking boots on as those hills will take it out of you. You can do a day trip to Sintra if you have the time. Overall I'd just say go with the flow and walk around taking it all in.

If you're under the age of 40 be prepared to be offered cocaine every 10 seconds around the centre of town. Probably the only downside.

So basically Liverpool, but sunny?

I’m sure I will mate! First time outside of Europe, and first holiday since covid (not counting when I’ve been back to Ireland to see friends / family) so I can’t wait
If Japan is your first time outside of Europe brace yourself for a massive culture shock. I've only been to Tokyo but it's loud, bright and utterly bonkers, but a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Sounds great!

Looking on going to New York for a week.

Personally never been too fussed but she really wants to go.

Would want to go around september/October to catch an NFL game.

Just having a look online and it's considerably more expensive during that time of year it seems than Feb/March.

If we wait a while would we be able to get a cheaper deal or is that standard?

Also, where's the best area to stay?

My experience of NYC in March is that it's freezing. April is much more pleasant. Prices will fluctuate according to seasonality.

Personally, I like being around Times square but it costs. I know many people stay in Brooklyn rather than Manhattan as it's more cost effective, within easy travelling distance and with good restaurant options.

1 week is a long time in Manhattan. It's not that big and has nowhere near the amount of things to see and do as London, Paris, Tokyo and a whole list of other big cities.

Native New Yorker here.
That makes sense to me as the weather in September/October is pretty ideal whereas February will likely be cold with some ice and snow.

What kinds of things are important for you during your stay? I can help with a general location if you give an idea on what you’re interested in.
