Got a taxi to the game on Saturday and the taxi driver (so take with a pinch of salt) said that his mates drink with the assistant kit man and apparently it wasn't just Distin that Bobby fell out with. He fell out with Jags too about the poor defensive displays, and apparently Bobby and Jags were face to face yelling at each other. Apparently Bobby questioned why Jags only seems to care about his performances for England and not for Everton.

Anyway, he also went on to say that Distin and Bobby are "finished". So if that's true, I think we can expect to see Browning tomorrow night. Which to be honest, I think I would look forward to.

Hard to imagine Martinez being snidey with anyone to be honest.
 
I'd like to see him given a go, he's looked very capable every time I've seen him. Martinez and lots of other people at the club clearly rate the lad and think he has a big future.

There has clearly been a falling out with Distin, but the fact he played at Lille suggest it is far from irreparable.

Who have I laid in to?

Truth is most young players just aren't good enough. Kennedy isn't, Duffy wasn't, Lundstram isn't, Gueye wasn't etc.

I think Browning has a very good chance of making it - same with Ledson, Garbutt and Galloway, but you don't have to say all our young players should be getting a game.
 
Just reading the Harry Catterick Biography - my he did give the youngsters a real chance even when we were a rich club - RM hopefully will have the same mentality as up to now apart from Barckley/Stones not to many youngsters have been given game time - Tony Hibbert playing for me is a step in the wrong direction as is Distan now - they look completely over the hill - Browning needs a chance in the first team and a run maybe in the centre of defence alongside Jags

Lots of youngsters have been given game time, just not all of them from our academy. In his first season at the club, when he probably could have been excused for playing it safe, he regularly played Barkley, Stones, Lukaku and Deulofeu all under 21.

This season, along with keeping three of the above four, he is trying to give Browning and Garbutt game time plus Besic and Atsu all whilst still maintaining our performances.

Martinez has a history of giving young players regular game time if he thinks they are good enough.
