Type 2 diabetes.

I was diagnosed as Type 2 a year and a bit after starting a health kick, and after losing 6.5 stone (almost 2 of which turned out to be severe dehydration!).

Luckily for me I had already developed the good habits needed to control and hopefully one day reverse it.

I can only offer my own opinion and it’s the same as for those looking to lose weight (specifically fat) in general: it’s not a race. Whatever the underlying reasons for the illness, they didn’t appear overnight and so nor will the cure. Be consistent, stay in a calorie deficit and exercise as much as you’re able to.

The difference in my control on the days I workout vs when I don’t is night and day. My insulin requirements are minimal and my readings are bang in range all day.

My eldest boy is Type 1 and I’m involved with our local diabetes charity. I’m by no means an expert but I know a bit, so feel free to drop me a line if you’re ever struggling and/or need advice.

Best of luck @LouReedwalkonthewildside

Cheers mate, much appreciated.
