45 mins of 0-0 is honestly better than I thought we would do. Defensively, outside of the stones mistakes we looked very solid, gave up almost nothing DESPITE a lot of defending. Midfield is non-existent. We have had a couple of opportunities up front, but we are giving away the ball with a lot of unforced and forced errors.
Barry can make some great passes, but he also has some inexplicable giveaways that put us under major pressure. Him and McCarthy back there, as the link to the forwards, is probably by far the weakest link right now.

First few games of pre-season we looked quite dynamic.
As soon as Rom came back, we looked awful.

there's little doubt that the transition from Martinez style to RK's has created a bit of a 'playing vacuum'. I guess that might take some time, and new players, to fill.

Our forwards and defense are two separate teams. No links between the two, definitely need more in the midfield. There was a point when funes picked the ball up near the half way line and gestured for one of barry or mcarthy to move beyond him. They both dropped in behind him. Good news is we look solid defensively. Only a friendly like but man utd look like they're gonna be a force this season.
