USMNT

Yeah, they’re better objectively, but how are they together? I also don’t really get Phillips to be honest, especially in games England should be on the front foot. He’s unnecessary. Its basically a wash for me in midfield. It’s Englands forward line that’s going to give us major issues assuming Southgate doesn’t overthink it. Fortunately they also have Harry Maguire so we’re in with a chance.

Rice, Bellingham and Mount could give us issues but Mount has spent the last couple of seasons as a forward and his couple of games at midfield for Chelsea haven't exactly been a seamless transition. Phillips is straight up bad, I don't care who he plays for.
Phillips is a better player than Rice IMO.

Just an aside to all the Striker drama, an option for Gregg that isn't being discussed enough is simply using Sargent also as wing cover, and axing one of Arriola or even more justified Morris from the final roster for Pepi and Pefok. Likely Weah will be fit so one of those names gets the bounce most likely, making the squad likely Pulisic, Reyna, Aaronson and Weah already (clearly the position of most quality). Thats a full game rotation in its own right, and no matchup is going to usurp any of those four with Arriola or Morris realistically. Factor that Josh has been mainly on the outside with Pukki centrally at Norwich and some other places we could turn to in Dest moving forward or De La Torre in a pinch if we get a bad injury bug, I think theres a way we could not be worried about wing depth to the point of being able to include Pefok and Pepi.

A caveat is if Berlhalter tries out Reyna centrally, to try to get all three of Aaronson, Pulisic and Gio on the pinch at the same time. That would change things. And I respect that its not just the pitch being factored. Arriola by all accounts is a key locker room player but I think there could be a viable way to include all of Ferriera, Sargent, Pefok and Pepi on the Qatar roster sensibly.

Instead of making a new thread I'll just throw it here because I know myself and I'm not messing with a VPN for a highlight show even though I really should get one for my streaming services.

I've seen espnfc referenced plenty here over the years, and men in blazers as well. What others do the Americans turn to for football coverage? Haven't seen it mentioned in awhile although I haven't been around as much so my apologies if it recently came up and I haven't came across it.

The Guardian’s football coverage is generally pretty good more for articles than video clips though

I actually happen to end up on there often when I google stuff but I never go directly there.

Good call I will have to add that in my rotation. Despite how dumb my posts are I actually enjoy reading an article over a video most of the time. Some things articles just can't quite explain as well but for the most part, video coverage is just so dumbed down imo.

Thanks for the recommendation

The Guardian's podcast is pretty good IMHO. The Totally Football Show podcast is good too.

@wm02 I just saw that Quieroz is back at Iran. Going to be a very interesting group I think. Lots of tight games.
