USMNT

Incredible get for the Stars and Stripes. Especially while the federation is in flux and the manager vacancy. I get the logic though from his end.

Has the potential to be the teams best player ahead a States World Cup. Huge marketing potential for him with a squad on his timeline. Hierarchy at the English camp is set with Kane, and a fair amount of strikers of similar ilk or pedigree to Balogun at present. Southgate stressed favoring Premier league production. Say he doesn't get a move to a premier league team this summer he could wait a year or two really to get a serious chance. By then Southgate maybe has entrenched choices with guys already getting call ups. And Nigeria has similar depth and the best striker in the world right now not named Haaland.

Incredibly excited. Gives a nice bolt to a team and year that's been a bit tough on us USMNT fans. Welcome Balogun!!!!

That's 3 top youngsters England have lost now (Musah, Musiala, Balogun). Shame for us but can see why Balogun decided that way.
Don't blame them, I'd even say it makes sense - England is always under scrutiny and they'll always pick whoever is the media darling.

For the USA he'll play always and people will like and cheer for him.

I would say it's not media darlings getting picked ahead of him right now though for England. But yeah I agree he;ll play more and be under less scrutiny

Kane, Rashford, et al - doesn't matter if Balogun scores 30 in 30, Kane is still getting picked and played, and so on and so on. "He's only good cuz it's in France" or something daft.
Always has been like that for England, makes scapegoating amazing to witness when they don't play - remember Jags getting blamed for a Suarez' goal despite Gerrard basically assisting his own teammate at the time lol
Think being part of a good young core of players is part of the appeal as well imo
That too - hope the USMNTNTMNTMTN develop the young core well, which hopefully inspires the US to develop more players internally through academies/Generation Adidas/other programmes etc.
