USMNT

Ok with Sargent as he’s at least scoring goals again. He did something to earn his way back into the fold. Pepi has done zero. I also really like Pepi but it was too much too soon. Guys like Pefok and Wright seems to get one chance and any mistake means they’re out in the cold.
I think that’s a fair sentiment for Pefok especially but I dont think it rules out Pefok at Qatar. If Pepi doesnt show well I do think he could still get cut. That said I think an understated part of the rationale if Pepi does end up on the roster is longevity and 2026.

Pepi is one of the highest ceiling prospects regardless of the rough patches, in the pool. If part of the rationale if the margins are tight is that they want him in the fold oppose to be cold, as a possible selection then, I think that has some merit. The same would apply to Slonina as 3rd GK.

That’s informed by Berlhalter’s affinity for Ferriera and the most ideal system fit in Sargent. I expect those two to be the starters and carry the lionshare minute wise, no matter who ends up winning out with Pefok and Pepi come November. Frankly hope Sargent starts in the Firminio lite role hes operated in the past. Our goals are on the wing first and foremost. Aiding in build up and threading passes in the box I think should be the main approach. Something maybe also achievable if Reyna plays centrally which would be wise to try out in these friendlies.

The case for Pefok though is strong. Especially if the default tactics are failing and his form at Union continues. I dont think he's assured off the final team.

To me the most interesting debate is Vines and Scally. All through qualifying Gregg had hesitancy on Scally but I think if he misses out that is a big mistake. Lot of foils dependent. Jedi's health, Sergino's comfort on the left etc. Ultimately though I favor Dest on the other side for Scally to be on the right if need be, then favoring Vines at his natural position. Obviously there are other factors there in Cannon and Yedlin, but Scally's quality should get him to Qatar.

It might not rule him out but it’s hardly rewarding him for showing he can do what Pepi couldn’t. Pepi is an excellent prospect but he’s also 19, and this is a performance business.

Scally as cover makes a lot of sense.

For so
It’s just not hard to get right. But if you can’t get it right internally, dump the high paid designers who are clearly awful at their job, and just the fans have a go. Pick 5 or so that you like and let it be a vote. Great for USSF and guaranteed sales for Nike. Heck you could even do it where a vote means you commit to purchasing one if it’s selected. I never purchase new kits anyways so I don’t know why I care so much

Its not letting me like your post, but I completely agree with you.

I've been waiting years now to buy a shirt once I realized I've never owned an American shirt. Looks like it won't be this go round either lol

I've decided I'm going to be optimistic if for no other reason than I can annoy the English on here. Adams, McKennie and Musah is the best midfield in the group and if we have them available there is enough talent everywhere else to be fine. I'll say it again: they have to beat Wales and Iran. They are more talented and are going to be handed the initiative in both games. They have to win both and then the England game won't really matter.

I don't mind the white shirt and the blue one stinks but will look fine on TV so whatever.

I'm really excited beyond just the US. Nothing like the World Cup.
Pretty much agree with everything here. The Wales game worries me because they have the best player on the pitch, and unfortunately I don't think it is close.

Still they have more than enough talent to get it done.

As for annoying the English go for it buddy, they're an easily irritable grouod of people so I'll be there with ya buddy.

Bale plays in MLS now so he's bad, I don't make the rules.

Hey I hope so. I usually adhere to those rules but the decision makers in that league are finally improving.

Nothing wrong with signing older stars, 28,30+ as long as they largely accept they are a selling league and sell quality of life to central and South American products... the MLS should be the league that guys catapult to the big 5 in Europe from. The only reason it isn't is the arrogance or ignorance from gms and managers.
