I have 2 daughters and if one of them was in hospital for the first 5 months of her life then I wouldn't be thinking of work. OK, he has had a few chances but he should be excused here. Family and especially children come before ANYTHING. Calling him scum is unbelievable. I have kids and I feel its justified calling Shandy scum instead of going out on the lash everynight why doesn't he spend time with his kids...?

His kids have to sit there whilst "Daddy" is in hospital having his stomach pumped again because it was believed that he's been spiked in a bar....again. Yeah, sorry bluesp your right VDM is a great father he practically wrote the book on how to be a dad.

You're quite right, my daughter was pre-mature born only weighing some 1900 grams and we were hospitalized for the first month, not knowing whether she was gonna live or if she was going to have mental handicaps. The world around you does not exist, and least of all your work.

So if he is really having problems consentrating on his work/football then I fully understand. Basically if this is the reason for missing out on a training session, I would give him another chance.

It goes without saying that we all sympathise with VdM over his child, but if he wants to spend more time with his family he should do so, and stop pocketing money for nothing - unlike the rest of us, when our children are ill, he can afford to. I would also question his "friend/solicitor" for bringing this up in the media.

Further, family does come first, and if he was out on the lash as is suggested, then shame on him.

Come on lads, this wastrel was up to his tricks long befoore any child was born five months ago. I'm a father and can imagine stresses and starins. A mate of mine brought up two kids, both with spina biffida, he went to work every day, he is a doctor, he coped. This I'm afraid is no excuse for him missing training, it is more of an expedient way enabling him to get the best severance payment he can. In his circumstances you should be more in control that out of, what was stopping him phoning in saying 'hey boss the baby is not well, been up all night, can I be excused training please' surely that is the action of a responsible person, VDM isn't and should not be allowed anywhere near GP, he is an arse:angry: :angry:

well said monty, if the bloke was with his baby then he wouldn't have been suspended and fined..

obviously out on the piss, getting his drinks "accidentally spiked" and having his way with the best of the liverpool whores (gerrards mrs 10 quid a go and now VDM takes home 25p a week)

Partly agree with you - you'll never know the stresses and strains that comes with having a baby born prematurely and with no clear signs whether it will live or not until you experience it yourself.
But yeah he should having asked for leave in the first place or at least - as you suggested - phoned the boss.
Anyway you're right "the problems started long before the child was born" and I'm sure that VdM has the full sympahty of EFC and Moyes.
Basically what I'm saying is - and you have touched on a soft personal spot for me here - I know what he is going through, but I managed to keep in touch with my employers and there was no problem.

Surely everyone must know that VDM is taking the piss with his latest soundbyte? He's pissed about for far too long now Dane and its beyond a joke....read up on the story about the boy who cried wolf. If its true about VDM and his daughter how on earth are we going to believe anything that he says anymore after all the times he's let us down.

Ship him back of to Holland on loan or whatever, just get rid of this clown as soon as possible so he doesn't leach anymore money from our club.

GD you know me I would never get at a child hence my further annoyance with this wastrel using the child as an excuse when there wer so many things he could obviosly have done to prevent this situation but he was either to lazy or just totally disinterested to do anything about it. I can imagine him saying to the child in years to come, 'do you know I got sacked over you' by a nasty club called EFC, that is in his nature I'm sorry to say.

Why he doesn't want to earn £20,000 a week is beyond me, for half of my working life I earned less than that a year, and that really pisses me off:angry: :angry: :angry:
