The first was a nothing the challenge, I'd put the second one down to tiredness. He was trying to win the ball back, and hasn't had regular football in a long time. Moyes was about to make a change.

As for his performance, he did fine really, much better than anything Saha has served up of late. Hopefully he can build on it.

I'm with you. The first was ridiculous -- he pulled out, and ended up knocking Hart over with his back; clearly no malice. And then straight away, no benefit of the doubt, the ref gives another yellow.

Remember when you've not got much possession, the role of the lone striker is to win the ball and hold it up. He did that well today, I think you'll find, and on one occasion I remember him being surrounded by about 6 city shirts, but he still managed to pick a good pass back to us so we could build.

Not a good game for him, with the red, but if you think about it he actually showed some good signs in a match he was never really going to get to shine in, as an attacking outlet. I hope to see him get a start against a West Ham when the suspension's up.

He was fine to be honest, did as much as he could up there on his own, and showed his versatility by moving to the left. He'll always get stick because he's a boo boy, but as a player, he's coming along nicely. Hopefully he agrees a deal and stays with us.

Saha did surprisingly well when he came on, but then he usually does as a sub, for some reason. That should be his new role in the side.

I'd rather us get rid of Saha asap, tbh, due to his wage. But yes he did well tonight, fair play. Shouldn't be starting, but I've no problems with him being a super sub.

With the ball - 4-4-1-1.

Without the ball - 4-6-0 with Anichebe helping to defend along either flank.

A nice and wise move by Mr Moyes tonight, Becks, Saha, or the Yak has never played out wide, Vic has.
I liked it!

I liked having him up front tonight, he held the ball much better than Saha (though, when he came on he was absolute class, for once) and was quick to defend.

Not sure whether I would want him in the regular squad, but if he starts scoring, then i'll be more than happy to accomodate him!

I dunno. I didn't like him as much as the rest of you. I thought his foul (and I do think it was a foul) was stupid, and beyond that, he did an awful lot of stopping (full on dead stop), raising his hands up and whining when things didn't go his way.

That doesn't endear me when the rest of the team is working their collective butts off. I admit I have low tolerance for that - which is why City drove me crazy all evening with their endless requests for handball. MOVE THE BLEEP ON.

And his body language (and tossing of his gloves) when he came off bugged me too - not very apologetic when he knows Moyes will have his head.

Color me not impressed.

He was the only negative for me in a great night. And that includes Billy who I thought did quite well when he got introduced. Great play at the end for the foul, and solid ball control. Nice.

Do you mean the "Foul" on Joe Hart? If so, I disagree, he had every right to go for the ball.

His second booking was definetly deserved.

Nope, I meant the 2nd booking. I was fine with the first challenge, I thought he had every right as well. Good acting by Hart.

To be fair Hart got up and shook his hand.. He didnt roll around on the floor or anything...

Glad Anichibi got some game time.. Obvioulsly annoying to see him being sent off...

Deffinately rather see Anichibie get some time instead of Saha

He does do that, and ne needs to cut it out of his game really.

That doesn't represent his workrate on the day though, he worked hard, put a good shift in and took pressure off us on a number of occasions. His hold up play was pretty decent with what he could work with.
