What a strange world this "football" has led us to. Ignoring the fact that even LOW weekly wages like this are more than some FAMILIES earn all year. When will we as fans not tolerate this anymore?

Hypothetical example from my life:
So I have a normal office job. This seems to me to be the equivalent of me being out almost the entire previous year on long-term disability/worker's compensation from a work-place injury. It was unfortunate, neither my employer nor I wanted that, but hey, it happens. I collected my salary despite not even being able to help my employer. Seeing as I've hardly done my job in a year, of course I'm rusty, but I expect I'll be back in the swing of things shortly. Now that I am coming back to work, I am offered a 33%+ raise and an extension at this new rate. That seems like a huge gesture of good faith from the employer (that I am valued and they expect I will reach my former form - or better). It is hard for me to imagine a way that I turn that down.

Keep in mind that we are in a very bad economy, one in which over here many people haven't gotten ANY raises in 3 years now (and those that do tend to be more like 2-3%).

That is why I LOVED what Oguchi Onyewu did with AC Milan - offering to play for a year for free after his injury. That showed class and it was obvious that he considered it an honor to wear the shirt and play for the team. Talk about a rare breed in today's football.

I like Victor. I've want him to succeed. I'd like him to stay a blue. If our front office rates him at 20-30k/wk, then fine, I'll go along with it. I am just getting really fed up with this stuff.

"The whole situation over the weekend about my contract was a bit crazy to be honest.

"I don't know where it leaked from that I supposedly turned down an offer of £30,000 a week.

"That is not the case at all. I have not been offered anything like the figures that have been bandied about in the press.

"I want the fans to know I would never disrespect the club in any way or disrespect the fans.

"I am happy at the club, happy with the players, happy with the manager and I don't have any problem with anyone at the club."

Has he been in to see Everton's legendary Head of PR and External Affairs, Ian Ross, to track down the source of the briefing against him, I wonder?

I reckon Ian will *ahem* 'know' how to 'track down' the source.

The way this club does its business <shakes head>.

Oh boy. Now the Fail with this.

I think, if these articles are true, we can happily let his contract slide and wait for the compensation money.

We wont be recompensed his true worth but that can't be avoided. More venal scum. This is the problem having c*nts like Pienaar in the squad. Greedy role models. 30k a week and he wont sign?

Jesus Roy Keane didn't get that for half of his career.

Anichebe is at best a bit part player. Let him play for the lower leagues or for Newcastle.

Moyes should put his foot down and this player should never wear an Everton top again. If I was manager he wouldn't even be allowed at Finch Farm.

OUT OUT OUT.

Glad I put the disclaimer in, but apologies anyway.

He should sue the newspapers for libel, its professional defamation and could have had or could still have an influence on his career and the wages he gets.

Poor Anichebe, first Nolan and now this. A shame as after Pienaar and Gosling the fans have become quite hardened to greedy prima donna footballers.

Anichebe got hassled outside that jewellers by the bizzies as well. Doesn't have much luck.

Hope someone holds a banner up at the next home game saying sorry, as he got a proper booing of the fans and that relationship needs to be mended. Mystified why he didn't hold a press conference immediately to nip it in the bud though.

Kenada blue your stance has always been more ridiculous, because even if a player wants to leave and resorts to all manner of underhand tactics to do it; you'll defend them as ambitious and happily denigrate the club as you do it. Always taking the side of the millionaire footballer over the club.

Give the lad a break, where is your fair mindeness?

Rather moyes gave him, Vaughan and Beckford more of a go than keep playing Saha and Yak. Can it be any worse?

Can't say I'm surprised that the newspapers we're full of [Poor language removed], shame the lad got booed.

I've since read another report in the Daily Post confirming the contract he has turned down was 20k a week rising to 30k a week. And that all that Anichebe is disputing is he's turned down a 30k contract.

If this is true, then he still has a high opinion of his own worth.

I thought I was generally fair to be honest...but hey-hum.
