i've slated him as have many but last night he was very good, so praise where its due. Chased, followed in on shots, was in the right place for the disallowed goal, great finish for the goal, look like he enjoyed the celebration too. If he can play like that all the time we wont want to sell him.

great celebration and a fantastic goal

needs to show he can lead the line from the off which he has,nt been able to demonsrate in any games when he has not come on as a sub.

I agree BUT to be fair yesterday wasn't a last 10 minutes cameo. He technically came on in the first half.

So that's an improvement. If Jelavic is out injured then this is Vic's chance I think.

Aside from his goal I thought he was poor, to be honest. Not exactly lazy aside from some incidents, just not very good.

There was one moment where Fellaini made a break and, instead of getting on the last man or making a curved run, Anichebe just ran parallel to him until Fellaini lost the ball because he had no one to pass to - Jelavic would've been darting all over the place. Also, the one where he was half through on goal and looked like he was tap dancing because he couldn't control a simple ball before losing possession was ridiculous. Although he did score one which was wrongly ignored, he should've done better. I know it sounds ridiculous as the ball actually crossed the line but the keeper should've been nowhere near that header. Did very well for his goal, though, and I loved the celebration.

So while Anichebe is strong, quick and powerful, for me he hasn't got the touch and certainly hasn't got a footballing brain. I'd have Mirallas up front if Jelavic is injured.

His finishing has improved a million percent over the past few years. He's also getting himself into the right positions to score which is clearly an important aspect of any strikers game.

If he keeps himself fit then I think he'll be an important sub for us this year.

Yep. Just don't start him. He can't get his head right for that.

If Jelavic is out then we'll have little choice but to start him. In that case I hope he seizes the opportunity.

Otherwise though he's proving to be a fine impact sub indeed. And one I'm quite happy having. Vic of 2012 has been -- and it feels weird saying this -- brutally clinical in front of goal.

He definitely didn't do anything to show he can't play there. Isn't Mirallas basically a striker as well?

I do remember a game at Goodison a couple of seasons back where Vic started and he was all sorts of trouble for Lescott and Kompany. The way Ashley Williams is playing, Vic could definitely outmuscle that big chunk.
