You are talking about a 35 million player AC - versus a young player who has come through the youth team, & is now scoring goals whether you like him or not your argument appies no logic whats so ever - My word the debate is now hitting even lower levels the 35 million player is also comanding 80 grand per week - Victor looks a bargain on that comparison oh by the way let me remind you when he gets match fit he may prove to be better if the ball is played to his feet & not hoofed up to him - blame PN Jags for that distribution!

Do you understand the meaning of the word Hypothetical my friend ?

Also , a player is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for them.

Hypothetical question..... if Moyes had brought on Andy Carroll against Newcastle and he scored 2 goals would that change your opinion of Andy Carroll based on the fact that most on here have slated him since leaving Newcastle.

I don't generally change my opinion of a player on a game-by-game basis. Vic's progressively made me warm to him throughout 2012 with his effective cameos.

Which is all well and good mate but some of the over reaction on this site to Vic scoring the other night is akin to how the Kopites behaved everytime Carroll hit the net last season... it's knee jerk reactive ......... I really hope Vic goes on to prove me wrong over the season but ...and I say it with a heavy heart... I sincerely suspect he won't. Again, others have differing views and opinions..I respect that..all I can offer are my opinions.

Yeah, I agree mate. Like when I pointed out how a few were kneejerking over Neville on monday, despite me being one of his biggest critics.

But personally speaking, I've been impressed by Vic for the last year. And I hope it continues.

He's beginning to show he can perform and can score important goals. Most notably of all he's dispelling the lazy tag most seem to label him with, at least for me anyway. Fair play if others need a bit more convincing. He's still got a way to go.

I could , for arguments sake, flip the situation. Had Vic not scored the other night how would people on here have gauged his performance. I don't think many people would admit that their view would be different,,,,but I suspect it would have been.

Well played Vic = over reaction ?

If his second goal had been disallowed too, I wouldn't have changed my opinion on his perforamnce. If however he hadn't scored the goal he did score because he'd skied it then yes I would view his performance differently. Other things that would change my mind on his performance would if he scored eight own goals, skinned their entire team or called my mother a ****.

Essentially if he'd performed differently, I would view his perfomance differently.

He was utter crap "goals" apart, same old, same old, lazy, diving on the floor with any sort on contact and a complete joke.

But you cant take away his goal, he scored it and to be fair it was a nice goal.

Again it's not for me to tell you what to think about a player. People look for different things in players.... what I may consider a strength you may consider a weakness... it's all opinions mate. My opinion being that Vic does not have enough to his game to warrant a place in the team. You may think differently and I wouldn't tell you that you were wrong as I really have no right to tell you what to think.

I was a fantastic goal mate and I have said that already.

To try and summise and to rest my case I will say this.... I don't think he is a team player or does enough for the team.
