really pleased with victor yesterday. still abit worried about his confidence though! every slight miscontrol or miss and he seemed to really beat himself up!

Mirallas cost under £5m. There's value still to be had and Moyes does wonders with £5m.

I think we'd be mad not to take £5m+ for Anichebe.
Depends on how much the "+" is. In Anichebe we have a PL proven striker that can score goals, sure he has his lows but all strikers do. Which striker can we bring in that we are SURE is going to be a better striker than Anichebe for the same amount of money and around the same age as Big Vic?

Comparing the pricetag of two different type of players doesn't work. We bought Gibson for £500k. Does that prove that we'd me mad not to sell Osman if an offer comes that is £500+? Of course not.

Pretty sure a lot of those who claimed to have known all along Victor was "quality" etc are chatting out their arses. There is NO WAY he had that many fans on here before.

Its true tho, ive been saying for Years, the lad should be a top player, hes a beast size wise, pacey and he can finish, his talent has never been the problem, its always been about attitude and application.

Oh I agree. There's been flashes of quality at times (europa league run, finish against Brum a while back etc) and laziness and lack of confidence has been his real problem more than any lack of quality.

This forum has been laying into the lad for years though and I could count the amount of times anyone really argued his case on here in the last year on one hand. But yet it seems everyone is claiming to have seen the diamond in the rough the whole time all of a sudden.

I have been a member of the kipper forum & this forum my run ins with my mate danny evo a Libertines fan are well documented -I aleays stated victor may make the grade - I had my doubts when the Nolan injury happened - I defended Joe royle on the terraces when he replaced the Golden vision -proved right on that occasion -I hope I am right about Victor - as for the Victor slaters god help us if we had got beat yesterday & Victor missed a chance or had a poor game!!!!!!
I will not change the record as someone stated above - this I hope is the time Victor comes good & shuts up all his doubters!!!!

Nobody wishes that to happen more than his doubters tho.

We all want the lad to succeed.

There's always going to be quality posters that know the game lad. Just as long as we keep that modesty and dignity when proven right there's no need for kneejerkers to get upset.

It's not about shutting his 'doubters' up, the people who have slated him over the years have done so based on his performances on the pitch, which were not good enough for a LONG time. He still has a lot to show to justify his £20k a week contract.

This isn't the same as certain posters saying Jelavic would be crap (not naming names), or Gibson, or whoever else. Anichebe was crap for a long time, and now it looks like he's finally snapping out of it. As Goat said, we're all Evertonians and ALL want every single player to do well.

I think Conor needs to pass on the message to cheebs that supporters are starting to love him and that maybe he can put on a bit of a passionate celebration after his next goal to show some love back, it will win some hearts!

2 years ago i had less faith in cheebs than I do of neville, but after his brilliant showing last season and this season, for about a year now i have found that i have been singing his praises. He has earned it and i truly hope it continues. Jelavic starts everyday, but cheebs used as an impact sub has won quite aloy of games as late a d certainly gives us a chance at chasing it.

Anybody who says he doesn't care should have seen his reaction when the goal that Fellaini scored against Newcastle was disallowed. Head in his hands and looked utterly gutted.

Did anybody watch his interview on the OS taken during pre season? Basically he says he knew he was still yet to make a proper impact due to injuries and even admitted his head wasn't in the right place in seasons gone. He said he's 24 this year and was fully aware that this season may be his last opportunity to give back to the club that's supported him over the years, he said he is confident in his ability and has been inspired by Jelavic and even Straq's work rate and wants to play well enough to be considered for the Nigerian team for the ACON. Taking last season into account and his performances this season, he wasn't just talking the talk but is going out and doing the business for us, massive respect for him from me, i also think he will get doube figures on the goal tally this season and that would be wonderfull for his confidence and us as a team.

20k per week absolute peanuts if he plays like that or scores cameo goals as he has done last seaon included -we all have opinions, but bare in mind when any team lays out big money & wages for a striker - just look over the park 35 million & 80 k per week ! DM gave Victor that contract lets just trust his judgment & support players who come via the youth system!

Last year I started to see a change in his game, no longer was he flinging himself to the turf looking for calls and tiring himself out by the 50th minute.

Plus he's back in his preferred position and setting up players for scoring oppotunities. Having better players around him helps tremendously too.

Remember big strikers peak late in their 20s-early 30s (or middle age in Yak's case). If he can stay healthy there is still much improvement to be made.
