Nice one! above with the hand bag pic very clever - I notice the poll at the start of this thread has changed in Victors favour since the performances of late - just hope he can stay clear of injuries & improve even more with goals & confidence.

How many people here have read Baz Rathbones book? anyone think this could be the case with Vic? We all know loads of talent, just can't seem to utilise it?
He really seems to need the support, and maybe he just can't handle the stick he gets for making a bad pass, or not scoring when he should.
I'm hoping he's got his head in order this year, and can start putting in some performances for us.

I don't have a problem with anyone who puts on the blue shirt and puts a shift in, look at how everyone loved strac and he was ****. It's just with vic sometimes he can be a sulky lazy **** but he seems to have turned a corner this season and I think all he needs is us just to get behind him to really help him push on and become the player we know he can be.

Am listening to van halen touch at the miniute might why am being so optimistic haha.

He rarely gets slated for a bad pass or a missed shot, that happens to everyone. However his unwillingness to put in the efort, and his production of displays such as they have been are a constant frustration to everyone who can see what he can do. He gets slated for playing like a useless donkey when he can play like a good player.
That he played well on saturday further emphasises the previous contrast between ability and performance.

He seems to be slated for showing up ;) some days. I don't make it to the games very much, due to work - but from what I read on here and general groans at the mere mention of his name....he must pick up on that.

I agree that some of his past performances have been very poor, I was just reading that part of Mick's book on Friday and Vic sprung to mind as a player who seems to really fall into that sort of category. When confidence is an all time low, and Mick didn't want to play (thinking Vic may have had some of that). Just a thought, Long may he work hard and get the result.

You could well be right mate.
Sadly the 'some' highlighted is actually 'most' of his previous performances hence the hostility I suspect, but the way I see it, new season, new start. I always try to go into a game with an open mind on our players but I can't forget the past, he has been very poor very often, but saturday was good, perhaps not as good as some are suggesting but certainly a good game, thought he was up there with Fellaini, Baines and Pienaar as our best players and that's great to see.
Its also great to see praise for the effort he put in, but its far better to actually see that effort for a change.
So I doff my hat to him for putting in as much effort as the rest of the team for a change and hope for more and I also hope that he changes the minds of all the doubters with a sustained string of performances.
Better still like you say hope he gets the confidence he needs from that performance to put in another. Biggest fear must be he has a bad game and things go back to how they were from the player and the crowd.

but the way I see it, new season, new start.

Very difficult for supporters to take this view. We gather our own biases over time, changing them would be an invalidation of our own opinions.

Not saying that's what's happening here, just a thought in general.

Victor Anichebe vs Swansea

This was one of his best display's for Everton, he came on against Newcastle getting a goal and putting in a good performance and he has continued that into this game, getting another goal and working his socks off for the team. This is the Anichebe I love seeing!

IMO he's played himself into the team and should be allowed to play himself out of it. Clearly confidence is an issue for him and dropping him when he's on form will be a massive blow. He's never really had a run of goals over 8-10 games(because he's never been fit enough to play them) but he could do that if he gets the chance.

I hear what your saying but to flip that, your basically saying you want to drop Jelavic who works hard and plays well every game because Anichebe had a decent game, which to me is just as harsh and morale damaging to Jelavic.
