Bought my first ever record second hand, 50p for Vogue by Madonna.

Made a deal with a mate because I found out it was my crush's favourite sound and with teenage logic thought it would help my courting cause.

It didn't but I played that record to death and loved it. Her loss was my gain.

How good at the moves were you? Reckon you could bury someone or would you get served!

Had a look round Warrington boot sale this morning (Sunday).

A couple of sellers set up with records (clearly dealers) that they'd put out first thing when it was freezing with plenty of moisture in the air. Not an ideal way to treat the stock I'd have thought but the perils of flogging at a boot sale I suppose.

What gets me though is that they then have them all priced up at the same rate, and in some cases more expensive than, a nice room temperature bricks and mortar second hand. Asking a fiver for a battered copy of Zenyatta Mondatta with the top corner ripped off that's spent the last few hours outside in near freezing temperatures.

We can't be that far away from each other then, I'm about the same time away from it too mate.
As for is it worth visiting for that alone, I'd say probably not, although saying that there are boxes of vinyl dotted all over the place. A lad off here is going today for a particular box of soul stuff I found last week, it'll be interesting to hear what he thinks later.
Interesting to read what you say about Vinyl v CD v Streaming, I have done the rounds with them all and the best I've come up with as a source is the cheap and cheerful Raspberry Pi fitted with a Dac from ALLO, very cheap and cheerful as I say but jeez, warmth, big soundstage the lot. Incredible really. My hunt for the unnatainable is over. Small world as I've a Naim CD player in the system too. Not switched it on for 2 years though as I'd lost interest in it.Must compare notes at some point ;)
You could be half an hour away from each other. Just saying.

Nearly bought The Blues And The Abstract Truth by Oliver Nelson.

Thought it would be a steal for a tenner but checking up on the label (Not Now Records) it seems like they quickly reissue just out of copyright stuff on vinyl but just cut using a CD copy as source or similar without ever being anywhere near an actual master.

Loads of shady labels doing the same. Cancelled the order

I no longer own that much and never listen to it. But here's some relatively interesting ones that I own...

The Residents (I've since added to this small collection, including an original Duck Stab/Buster and Glenn, a Baby Fingers 45, and a Nice Doggie/Buy or Die 45...for the three people that are familiar with this band):

An old skate-punk band, Jodie Foster's Army, that we listened to in high school:

Some REM Maxi singles:

Any turntable recommendations for a poor man?

Looking to (slightly) upgrade my Audiotechnica to something slightly better - Trying to decide between a Project-E1/T1 or possibly a Rega Planar 1

They both look simple to set up and ready to go, I’d be tempted by the Pro-Ject as you don’t have to lift the platter and move the belt to change speed. Any dealers around where you live to have a listen to them ?.

If interested in something more vintage that is well-built and still reasonable in cost, I'm a fan of the Dual 1219 and 1229.

Had this delivered yesterday. Bruce Dickinson’s new solo album The Mandrake Project. It’s alright, I only bought it because I’m a Maiden fanatic.

Came with the Deluxe cd/graphic novel combo and a hand signed photo by the man himself. IMG_9685.webpIMG_9683.webp
