Had a Discogs order arrive today. £20 for the lot, sleeves looking good and all appear to play without issue so I'm fairly happy.

Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On The Edge Of Town
Advertised as NM/NM but I figured that wasn't gonna be the case for the £5 asking price. Not far off in all fairness but high end VG+ I'd say. Still, I'm more than happy for a fiver.

Larry Graham And Graham Central Station - My Radio Sure Sounds Good To Me
Bass guitar God and funk is so cheap and out of fashion on vinyl.

Harry Nilsson - Knnillssonn
Wildly erratic. Incredible when he was on form, often terrible at other times. Don't know much about this album but again, very cheap so I'll give it a go.

Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes
Springsteen / E-Street adjacent bar room heartland rock. Well worth a spin if that's your bag.

A quick pic of my latest haul (Dawn of Ouroboros, Curse of Cain, Paakallo, Her Shadow). The bottom two are from Svart Records, an interesting label I've had on my radar for a little while. Thought I'd timed the delivery so they'd come when my wife was out, but sadly 'twas not to be.

Got my original Darkness on the Edge of Town from Penny Lane Records , which incidentally is the best album ever and will hold that title till I snuff it. Which Southside Jonny album did you get ? , Hearts of Stone is another of my all time top 5.

I think the only one I've got is the 2020 reissue of In the Nightside Eclipse by Emperor, which I picked up new for a tenner at a record fair, and black metal isn't exactly known for it's great production values, even if Emperor don't really go in for the "necro" sound of a lot of 90s Norwegian BM. It sounds good to me, but I never owned the original vinyl so can't really compare.

This fella knows a hell of a lot about all kinds of audio with the added perspective that he's not trying to sell you anything. Pretty much any page or site singing the praises of Half Speed Masters are linked to selling half speed masters.

Do they sound different? Yes.
Do they sound better? Errr

There are undoubtedly differences in different issues of the same music but whether one is better than the other will usually depend on how much money and time the listener has invested in it. Post purchase rationalisation is the most powerful audio system on Earth.

That's what i thought, i certainly wouldn't buy albums because of it...but might do if I haven't got them already if they aren't much more than the original

The digital atmos/ 360 stuff is interesting, sounds like some is great and some is terrible...certainly doesn't seem to be the leap forward stereo was...yet

To be fair it's not like I know for sure. There may well be some excellent half-speed masters knocking around but the spiel that it's guaranteed better isn't true.
