Christ on a bike!
To be fair, in my experience, if it’s a really common record with loads of UK copies for sale, Discogs is generally ok, particularly if buying from dealers with high sales and good rep.

If it’s anything rare (ish), with few copies listed, the price will usually be the price of the last one sold + a hefty mark up. Far better deals to be had for these records on FB sales pages dealing with the specific genre of music.

I've bought a couple records from Discogs and they all arrived yesterday. All of them play fine, and it seems a lot cheaper than the people you find on the Facebook marketplace.
I buy quite a bit off discogs. If VG+ is good enough for you (it should be for anyone that actually plays their records), then with a bit of patience most of what you want will come along at a fair price eventually.

My main problems with it are:

People grading too liberally, VG+ should mean no audible scratches. So often you find something graded VG+ then read the description... "a few pops and clicks here and there, bit of surface noise". It ain't VG+ then, mate.

People taking your money then not posting your record for two plus weeks.

People packing records badly, and/or in the sleeves.

If anyone likes their Wu-Tang, this is an absolute steal. I'd be all over it if I didn't already own older versions of 3 of the 4. £62 for 4 certified classics. Legit label. Nice pressings.

Happy days, managed to cop the green splatter OBI variant of the new Conway the Machine LP today, 300 copies worldwide.

Does anyone use Discogs

Yeah, I've got a few albums on the way from Discogs sellers right now actually. My experience buying stuff there has been positive 95% of the time. I registered my collection on there years ago, which is nice as I sometimes forget whether I own something or not.

The ones who take ages to post your record are usually the ones who go on about immediate payment in their seller terms. And those who try and abdicate any responsibility if it goes missing or gets damaged in transit. Actual business owners in many cases who don't understand the basics of distance selling.

Usually fine though on Discogs and most sellers are usually pretty sound if something arrives not as graded. Usually find looking at their responses to any neutral / negative feedback gives a very good idea of whether they're worth dealing with as the feedback score can sometimes be threw out by an unreasonable buyer.

Biggest annoyance is when a seller has something listed, can't find it, but then posts the rest of the order before letting you know. I can fully understand sometimes things go amiss with the inventory (multiple marketplaces, listing error, theft even) but let me decide if I want the incomplete order rather than just shipping it without the record or two that I really wanted.

Picked these up yesterday, £10 for the pair.
Debut alm’s spine is pretty worn. That’s one of the many variants released from different plants on the original run. Different font for the side 1 and 2 numbers.

Making Movies is a mis-sprint variant from the original release. Side 1 doesn’t list Carousel Waltz as track 1, it has Tunnel of Love.

Needed a little brush before playing, but they both play really well to be fair. Can’t complain for a tenner. IMG_0168.webp
