The problem with a lot of hardcore though, assuming you mean 80 US hardcore, is the quality must be awful. I've had/heard some and they sound like they will break your system

Part of the love is the story behind the record. 16 year olds making noise across America. Punk should be raw and imperfect for me.

I catalogued mine on discogs too. Makes it so much easier when shopping to make sure I don’t double purchase!

I have some friends with thousands of records uncatalogued which blows my mind.

Grease handed wannabe's also. So many ideas about cleaning. Suppose cleaning an acquaintances records say 20 for £10 could see some investment back. Gotta think smart. Looking after your gear goes a long way to keeping things going. Weighing up a mixer cover next.

Even with that machine cleaning 20 records is gonna take a while. I'd want way more than a tenner.

Lost a huge amount of early and original pressings of punk,new wave, two tone and more due to a failed relationship. Still hurts some days when I remember those special moments, usually in Probe when I picked stuff up I've since lost (couldn't give a monkey's chuff what happened to her, the venemous harradin, but I'm not bitter)
Still built up a huge collection of early house and detroit techno, again, originals that I see as investments in the way Blue Note releases are.
Proper, decent weight vinyl is unbeatable imho.

I’m lucky in that I kept my 70/80’s vinyl.

It’s obvious who collects this stuff when you go to record fairs. Rock/metal albums are £20/30 while chart/dance stuff is a fiver or less.

I used to get a lot from here and it was good value at the time. Seems a lot more expensive now, but it might still be a good saving
