I would say it actually does - or has at least been used an excuse for him and his shocking displays.

He was possibly brought in - and frankly should not not have been brought in - on the back of the sympathy card given some of the negative reports of his ability prior to him signing.

On multiple occasions since his disastrous entry into the first team he’s been given a free pass in large part ‘due to the war’ - this has been an actual argument put forward excusing him and still goes on even now.

This is very weird, we signed him about a month before Putin invaded Ukraine.
 

In the second half I could of sworn I saw him play a 10 yard pass with his right foot with all the energy and conviction of a sleep deprived toddler. Offers as much going forwards as a mobility scooter with a broken battery
