Sadly most of our team. Maupay would be an easy one to point at obviously but honestly same can be said about our entire team - if it wasn't for the early purple patch - nearly everyone of our "creative" players has about 1 goal/assist since November, which is abysmal.

He's a mediocre player in a bad team - with a more stable environment around him he'd look infinitely better. Dyche knows how to get a defensive song out of full backs at least so he's not gonna be praised for it EVER as he's not Coleman, but he was okay when he came in last year and has looked okay at times recently.

As much as I want to like him though he's always got a mistake in him recently for some reason, no idea what's changed in him/his life but still. As Kev said above - we have 0 alternatives as the rest are somehow worse, which says more about our team than him...

I'd personally prefer we improve other positions before LB basically, even with his limitations - in sort of order (imo) we need a striker, we need a better winger or two, we'll probably need a keeper, etc. etc.

I think having a couple of full backs who are comfortable with the ball in the opposition half would have a huge impact. One of the reasons we attack so poorly is because we have so few players that can hurt the opposition. It puts more pressure on our forwards who aren't good enough as it is.

Imagine if Mykolenko had been our first choice left back under Moyes and how much weaker the team would be as a consequence. Can sometimes do a job defensively is so far below the standard we should be expecting.
 
The reason that Godfrey is getting games as a makeshift fullback is because Dyche recognises how crap Mykolenko and Patterson are. Neither are PL standard. No PL clubs will be interested in either of them should we seek to sell them.

Does any of this not also apply or more to Godfrey. Can’t see many clubs scrambling to sign him, he’s utter sh!te!!

He is. Even @DualityNSNO long winded statement is an exercise in excuse making for the lad - if I’ve got an agenda then so has he, and we know what it is.

He is league one standard and will struggle badly in the Championship

Consecutive managers haven't given him a chance, so we can only surmise he's beyond dire. The pecking order is Godfrey, Mykolenko, the kit man and Vinagre.

The fact that Dyche has played Godfrey over Mykolenko in most games suggests he knows he's poor, but forced himself into it yesterday by not playing Patterson.
