I think the two things play into each other though. I think our wide men are often seen as crap precisely because they have two slugs behind them who can NEVER overlap and create space.
I said before, if he is making runs but never receiving the ball off Gray or Gordon then he's likely thinking no point. Our wide forwards are too greedy and are bad decision makers. Playing 433 for me doesn't suit attacking fullbacks anyway if you ask me.

His job first and foremost is to defend, the rest can be worked on. I am laying a lot of our issues at the feet of Gray and Gordon, they are the ones tasked with creating and they just don't, they're individual players not team players, personal glory.

Mykolenko doesn't make runs beyond defenders. That's the point. They don't pass to him because he isn't good enough on the ball. He's too slow to be a modern full back. Look at the teams who are most creative and you constantly see full backs bombing forward, pulling defenders or midfielders out of position and creating space for attacking players to exploit.

And 4-3-3 doesn't suit attacking full backs? Look across Stanley Park for how wrong that assessment is.

Aye but Salah and Mane are top level players, Demi Gray isn't he's a very greedy player to his and the teams detriment. I think he has been told to be more conservative because he was getting forward well last season.

He played for the top team in Ukraine and is an established international with them, he can't be that bad or is the coaches picking him missing something?

I think he is solid defensively and we can get away with his reserved nature if Patterson plays but with him and Coleman it just doesn't work and leaves our wingers with mountains to climb.

He actually makes a fair few useful runs but Gray never ever uses him. Always tries to take everyone on, cut inside etc
Then that's down to the manager/coaching staff to tell Gray to start being part of the team or he gets dropped. Mykolenko is a very average player though, people are expecting things that I just don't see him doing, Vinagre is clearly crap otherwise he would be getting a chance (utterly pointless even if it was a loan) Situation is probably ok for now but going forward will need to be looked at again as Myko not the answer long term imo.

Ina nutshell needs dropping ...Vinegerey can defend & get forwards better.......- the left back we sold to Wigan for peanuts is doing great at Fulham - Everton that......

He's an old fashioned left back, which doesn't work well in an attacking sense. As others have said Gray never passes first time to anyone, not just Mykolenko. It would be interesting to see him and Townsend on the left in the New Year to see if that made a difference. My instinct is he's a squad player and we need a first team left back who can attack more and cross better. I thought this from early on, and I've seen nothing to change my mind.

That's one of the best posts on him yet mate, sum it all up.

I think Mylolenko has had a good chance to make the left back position his own but he doesn’t convince a lot of Everton fans, he’s not particularly bad but he’s not the answer either, his heading ability is very poor, let’s see how Vinagre shapes up, I think he would be better going forward not sure about his defending.
