Had you honestly never heard of Lucas Digne before we signed him? He was probably the biggest signing we've made in recent years in terms of his profile. There's a couple of reasons people see it differently to how they see Leicester doing it I think one is that they have a record of doing it well and we don't so people naturally fear the worst (think replacing Lukaku with Sandro Gueye with Gbamin compared to Kante with Ndidi and Maguire with Soyuncu) and the other is that they're usually doing it from a position of strength. Replacing one of the few naturally talented players we have with someone who we don't really know and who by all accounts is expected to take some time to come good is a risky strategy when you've only won one of your last eleven games and might well be in a relegation battle.

Mykolenko we were linked with in early 2020 so i took a gander if his name popped up.

Tsygankov is quite well known, in terms of being their best player.

The other 2 i know are Trubin (tall keeper) and Zabarnyi -- because he sticks out having lots of international caps at 19.

Mudryk usurped Zabarnyi in recent months in the voting as best young player in the league.


Key point, theyre all young :p bar Tsygankov at 25.

On a side note, if we sell Mina we could do alot worse than Zabarnyi, he's going to be some player.

This idea of age and value compared to performance is skewed in my book sometimes. The tick boxes seem to be - under 25, low wages, good resale value.

If they perform well...that's a bonus.

And I say this because...our squad is full of holes that need bodies in to play straight away.

On the flip side you can day £30mill on a LB and RB development players...or £30mill on another Doucoure....

It's how you spend. We've done it poorly, but still doesn't mean you can't try to get some elite level in.

I think too many people are judging players by whether they tick some arbitrary boxes or not rather than whether they can make us better. To be honest, I don't care how old someone is or what their potential resale value is - I just want the best players we can get.
That doesn't mean throwing money at has beens - you still have to get value for money - but I am much more interested in the visual aspect of football over the financial side of things

Maybe the people saying the first part are not the same people saying the second part?

I mean there are a lot of fans all with different opinions and stuff.

Need snatch him very soon if he are to have a chance, another one that will a star is Danila Prokhin, although he is Russian, and a bit younger.

it's all about the mentality and psychological stability of the players and ours have not yet adapted for that. they simply fall from one reality to another and, due to their age, simply regress.


but our generation of young players is crazy, they won the U20 World Cup in 2019, so there are a lot of good young players to look out.

There was a lad back in the day called Shevchenko

Don't know what age he was when he went to Milan; but he didn't do too badly in the end...
 
Just watched some bits on YouTube (I know).

Upon first impression he kinda reminds me of Godfrey actually - fit, aggressive, quick. Output wise obviously his stats aren't comparable to Digne but he's still only 22 I suppose. Likes to get on the ball and push it down the line to chase, basically like a traditional winger. Scored 5 goals for Kiev in 88 appearances, all of them appear to have been a result of getting on the end of balls in and around the six yard box.

His 'weaknesses' appear to be shooting and set pieces.. so again he won't be 2019-20 Lucas Digne.

Thats kind of how we got into the mess we're in though isn't it so you have to get the balance right.

absolutely it is. I am fully aware they go hand in hand, but I just don't really care about the finance & re-sale value side of things - I just want to watch a good Everton team.
