It's another low risk high upside signing though for a relatively low fee. Patterson and Ramsay are being seen as the future of Scotland in the RB position and at his age, he will retain his value for the next few years. I rather 5m to 10m on Patterson than 25m for Royale (sp) of spurs.
God that Emerson for Spurs is rubbish ain't he? One that @Zatara was banging on about us signing too.
Again, not against it. It's perfectly fine for a well ran club. But we're not. We need a right back who's on par/better than Coleman right now.
This idea of age and value compared to performance is skewed in my book sometimes. The tick boxes seem to be - under 25, low wages, good resale value.
If they perform well...that's a bonus.
And I say this because...our squad is full of holes that need bodies in to play straight away.
On the flip side you can day £30mill on a LB and RB development players...or £30mill on another Doucoure....
It's how you spend. We've done it poorly, but still doesn't mean you can't try to get some elite level in.
Disagree mate. I'm not sure which established fullback we could afford at the moment, nevermind one that wants to sign for us. I imagine Patterson is being seen as someone to rotate with Coleman until the end of the season. Would be surprised if we didn't buy another then as Coleman will be on his final year of his contract.
That signing beats going out and paying £30m for Aarons or £25m on Trippier or something.
