From memory, he was quite a popular choice when we were linked with him previously, now it seems he is the most hated figure in football.

I haven't really been paying attention - why has there been such a massive swing?
His recent poor work with 1860 Munich and China job would be why he hasn't got the best reputation. Very stubborn with his tactics and not well received by fans.

IIRC we were linked with him at the same time as Bobby back in 2013, fresh off his Porto gig so obviously he would have been a little bit popular. Since then he has done SFA.

I think there are a couple of things in play here, one is that is track record doesn't seem to hold up under the spotlight and the fact that he is linked with our dear old friend Mr Kia Joorabchian. The first couple of times we were less in the know, now we are on every little scrap like praying mantis, nothing gets past us!

I even have my spray can at the ready...calm down it's only deodorant, its just that I get so hot under the collar at the very mention of that name.

There also a lot of miss information and lazyness from our fans who just don't really know what he's done.

He never had the China job, that was Fabio Cannavaro.

He managed Shanghai and won the league with them with pretty much the same team AVB failed to win with.

He also won a double in Greece.

Not saying he's the man, I don't think he is but there is a lot of misinformation and guessing about what he's done, rather than just looking it up.

This is more common on Everton Facebook pages than here though.

Sorry I should have specified Shanghai instead of 'China Job', I was just being lazy when referencing his work in China. Which I think people seem to not care about the results he got with Shanghai and more so the notion of him being in China being the bad thing (Like Benitez).

He definitely is not the right man for the job though.

Agree he's not the man, but he isn't as terrible as our fan base have generally made him out to be.

I honestly don't know who the man is, I don't think it's lampard either.

I'll try .. super effective and successful at what ? Making money for himself, duping people and wrecking whatever in the process ?

What do you think he'd do to a football club ? I can hazard a guess, I expect he'd come off better than the football club.
If you think running multi-billion dollar businesses and being voted in as the US President isn’t the sign of someone who knows how to be successful, then I don’t know what to say to you.

The levels of delusion on this forum is frankly comical, it’s like being at a Labour Party conference.

It's true, a lot of people were really backing this fella a few years back. I don't mind who we get as long as he's not an ex kopite or fat sam.
Judging a fairly successful manager before he gets here is a bit weird.

Vitor Pereira has managed in the Champions League with several clubs (I remember his famous Olympiacos team trouncing Arsenal) and he has won various leagues titles and trophies with Porto and Olympiacos. As assistant manager at Porto he actually won the UEFA Cup, or Europa League.

I like the guy, but he has no Premier League experience. To keep this squad of players in the Premier League we need an old hand, someone who is used to doing rescue jobs in the Premier League. Someone of the ilk of Big Sam. Not that I’m saying we should appoint Big Sam, but you get the idea.
I agree. We are in dire straits. Lose at Newcastle (which is a near certainty) and we will be just one point above the drop.

The only conceivable option for what is now a rescue mission is Sam Allardyce.

I don’t typically put much stock in bookies odds, but this chancer is 5/1 compared to Lampard odds on. We know today is crunch time, so that seems a hell of a disparity this late in the day when it’s a two horse race.

You'd think, but Benitez drifted in odds the day before he was appointed. I wouldn't take anything for granted where Moshiri and Usmanov are concerned.

He is successful in wealth and power - so are Moshiri and Usmanov.

It was the reverse the other day though with the job Pereira's.

Lampard will surely get it but you can never be sure Moshiri won't change his mind.
